Playing Burton in the near future isn't he?

Had the pleasure of a long sit down chat with him. Really is a top bloke.

Our lass has the right hump with me that night, but what you gonna do? It's Bobby Diamond ffs.

Wait till you see his Olivier.

    She understands now.

He was very complimentary of her chocolate desserts (insert pun here) at the end of the night, so all was forgiven by then.

Same thing with my sister. My mum was evacuated from Marfleet in 1942 to give birth at Gate Burton(believe the GB Hall, which had a wing converted to a maternity ward).
My dad took me to meet them at Paragon station when they arrived back. When my mum showed me my sister I told her to take her back as I wanted a brother!

Incidentally I checked on the "if it had been me would I have been eligible to play for Yorkshire?". The answer was Yes!

He did though. 2 Tests against India in 1964 and due to injuries/ sickness he opened the innings 3 times. Shared wicket-keeping duties with Jim Parkes.

He attended Riley High at the same time as myself,Yardley Tiger and TigerRoo. The only batting record he didn't achieve there was held by myself.

Indeed it is! When I first took my wife back to Hull in 1985 I suggested to my mum and sister/ brother in law that we go for a drive across the Humber Bridge. After having lunch over the bridge I further suggested that we should go and have a look at the place where my sister was born. My mum and sister had never returned there.

Problem was that my mum had always told me the birth spot was Great Barton and my sister thought the same, so we went as far as the Nottinghamshire border on a fruitless search. On the way back and stopping to ask for the umpteenth time we were finally told there was a Gate Burton/ Gate Burton Hall which had a maternity facility during the war and we were directed there.
It was getting late and the gates were closed so we just took in the vista of the place before heading home and getting out my sister's birth certificate to confirm we had been at the right place.
