Is this the Robbie Savage who was criticised for predicting we would come 7th when we were about 5th and then we, err...came 7th?

He tipped us for relegation at one point.

“WBA, Southampton, Swans, Burnley, Villa are going to really struggle this year. Could three of these go,” Savage tweeted

For what it's worth, he has us down for 9th this season.

BBC sportsday were running a topic of 'things you would like to ban in football' yesterday. A spurs fan tweeted, 'selling our best players - think how good we would be with Bale and Modric still'. I thought you wouldn't have either and even your own Harry Kane would be at Arsenal! Unlike the mighty Saints of course, who would have a team to die for!

The combined sold/unsold Saints team often gets mentioned these days for how great it would be in the context of how well we replace them. However, I didn't know Harry Kane was at Arsenal.? The Spurs supporters keep singing he's one of our own.

I think he was at Arsenal when very young and moved to Spurs - 2001 to 2002 when 8, but was released, went to Watford academy for two seasons and was then picked up by Tottenham at 10.

Well they don't sing their own songs, you can't expect them to play their own players :)

Oh sorry, I missed this. Indeed, you can dare. Err, let's see, I'm generally Category 3, though I have been Category 4 this year a bit as I've had lots of work on the Saturday, which is when I generally Ramble. There you go. Most Southampton Ramblers are Cat. 3.

Yes, you're right. We had one of the online editors of the DS website come into the university today (ex-student) and he set us a topic to write on, to test how quickly we can get effective content out and how we can adapt and alter our writing style. Chelsea's reasons to sack Mourinho was my set topic.

Not particularly my 'thing', but a thing I have done nonetheless.

Yeah, I suppose you have to be able to write in any style required, but you write rather well, so I could see you ending up as a columnist, simply because you have an entertaining way of writing that keeps the reader involved. I'm not alone in thinking this. I've passed your stuff to respected others and they agree you have the beginnings of a style you can nurture.

Every one of my journo friends say it's harder to write for a tabloid than a 'proper' paper (I guess because stylistically it's an unnatural way to write).

Apparently readers of the Star and Sun have the lowest vocabulary of any readership....even Mirror readers are much higher. Guess you have to bear that in mind as well....no point n talking over your audience.

Vocabulary is often (though not always) a part measure of intelligence, innit ( :)) . Now think about the most popular papers and their vocabulary level, numbers of readers and then how they report and sensationalise politics and political figures. These are the people who will vote in any political referendums.

Want referendums for deciding our future? No thanks.
