It seems we've actually only sold 19,000 tickets for Saturday, though we're still confident of topping 20,000 for the first time this season. If you're averaging 6,000 empty seats every home game, it's obvious you've got the pricing wrong.
Maybe it depends on if you're trying to maximise revenue or fill all the seats. I don't know what the notional seat price is but say 19000 at £30 = £570k. 22000 at £25 = £550k, and so on. Isn't the ground capacity capped at 22 or 23k for safety reasons?
You should be trying to do both. We can get about 25,000 in, depending on the opposition, 24.877 was our highest attendance last season (Burnley £16).
I don't really know how that translates into gate receipts. Say, 12000 season tickets at £30 a seat, 12500 others at £16 comes to £560k. Still less than 19000 at £30. Trouble is I don't know what their gate receipts need to be.
We had 17,500 season ticket holders last season, the season ticket pricing is as big an issue as the matchday pricing, if not more so.
Personally I think 12k season tickets is decent for a championship club regardless of price. At the prices we've had to pay its bloody good. Hull has to be one of the richest areas in the country.
Not till the price changes - rather pick and choose home games due to long round trip. Enjoy away days more.
Ehab said their way of spending the ASI initiative proved they were right in spending the money on away fans as swat crowds were up 5% last season. Nothing to do with other clubs making it cheaper for their fans to come here, all down to them having some TVs on the concourse and a bit off the beer were the factors which made away fans travel to the KC in his mind. No doubt he will put down the fact Boro have sold out down to this. How he will explain other games with a low away turnout as fans are not having their costs subsidised by the clubs is another matter.
Didn't we take more than that on a Tues to Cardiff after being at Brighton on the Saturday. Surprised as that as always been a tasty fixture over the last few years. Sheep Sheep !!!!
I don't think ground size has much affect as only Rotherham and Brentford have got near their capacity. I think traditional support has more of an effect than local salaries. I don't think people say: "I'm rich so I'll go and watch football even though I hate it". We have higher average attendances than the other two relegated clubs. I don't think a relegated club who is doing well the next season should have a large reduction in support. Going down from nearly 24k to 17k is a reduction of 25%. I would have expected us to get higher attendances than just about all clubs except maybe Derby and Leeds.
