Yann had it right straight away and we still have these helmets trying to talk with them. http://www.theleaguepaper.com/lates...duchatelet-and-get-real-writes-chris-dunlavy/
Rick has described himself as (I kid you not) one of Charlton's "thought leaders" along with Hayes, Hunt & Razzell etc. I have invited him on here to debate, considering he has libelled me over Curbs. I still wear my Alan Curbishley lapel badge regularly.
From what I've heard Liege paid €1.5million for him, and we got him for "free" which has left a bit of a hole in their books. Which there is quite a bit of according to the new chairman. Which a while back when I first raised the issue of "where did all the Gomez money go?" I reckon he's doing the exact same thing at our club.
As part of the youth, don't particularly like the CAST. I signed up to them once, paid my £5 and all they did was send a weekly email, which was rehashed news. They've done nothing, except stand around saying "I've been a fan for this length of time, he's been a fan since this time, as was his father, and fathers father, who his father formed the club!" They rarely represent my views, or the views of the young, who lets face it are the future base of the club.
He won't come back on here. Same as Hunt, who I invited on here to address Kish, but he insisted the conversation take place on CL. It's why the Trust won't reach a different level of fan. Blatant elitism.
I was referring to the trust, which is more concerning. They have that monkey on their back and I don't think it's possible to shake it off now. But this is for another time
Maybe being young and naive I think a trust could do good as a unifying force, such a shame it's run by old men. (No offence to all you pensioners)
A trust formed of members of this forum would be the best solution, no agendas, no egos and no baggage. That is probably the reason why it wouldn't happen.
Look at how laughable the "protest thread" on CL has become - hijacked incidentally by 2-3 members of CAST plus the ubiquitous Rickie E. Half a dozen kids might be having their faces painted in the pot hole filled West Stand car park, and the regulars are treating it with the potential seriousness of a barrel bomb attack. It is quite possible that KMs minions have been told to drum up support for the face painting, but equally a fans protest has been brewing since we last won a league game. Way back on 22 August.
What bothers me is that the time might come in the not-too-distant future when a proper fans' trust is needed to help save the club, and when that happens you'll get CAST running about shouting "Me me me!" and it just won't work.
There's little to no trust in regards to the.. (I've done this schtick before, you get the point). They can discuss numbers all they like, but it's blatantly obvious they aren't reaching all levels of our fan base. I don't think that bothers them. A title, and pats on backs from the most inner of their circle is a good job to them. I don't want to repeat myself, but it's elitism. Have your club boys, I much rather being a fan.
This will make everyone laugh... Katrien Meire has been in Dublin today attending an event for high flying people in the sports world There are Tweets of her on stage with a mic, giving her invaluable insights into how to destroy a business. A couple of the tarty presenters have been unwise enough to Tweet how "impressive" Katrien was - have a look at their Twitter feeds for the response @mariecrowe @WebsummitHQ @esiobhan11 @PRMikePreston
I don't get the point of the trust to be honest ...I suppose they mean well ...BUT what do they do seem to dish out balloons out of their little tent and ask people to sign up and join them every home match for a small fee.... I think. I imagine to a man they inhabit the west stand and sit on their hands silent during the game and travel too and from some posh village in Kent by car of course every week. Out of touch springs to mind so I'm not interested in anything they say they don't represent me. I'm more intune with my fellow Neanderthals who inhabit the north upper and who these trust people would cross the road to avoid and be shocked by bad language chanted .
Anyone else heard that the club are calling up people saying about the "family day" now being put on in the West Stand. Call me cynical, if true, it seems like KM and RD are trying to stop the protest against them. No one wants to protest when kids are about
Holden- The face painting session in the car park had been planned for some time, but Meire has asked her serfs to phone parents this week to drum up interest. The logic of face painting on a cold November day in a car park full of potholes and match day traffic is another example of a CEO who doesn't understand her business.
Yes you have summed it up perfectly, problem is it is just not going to happen is it. I dont want league one again. What do we do, we love CAFC.
Anybody seen the latest attempt by the Belgians to head off the protest- a house and garage DJ in the Fans' Bar before and after the match. Having had a neighbour who played garage music this is one thing certain to drive me away. I'm also disappointed that Henderson is the latest to have a pop at the fans, and the "hostile environment" at The Valley. It's fine for the players, they can change clubs- fans don't. Henderson has been our star performer since his return, but he must know that Roland's strategy has resulted in the crap in front of him. Jacko has sensibly refused to comment on the demo, but if the players are going to take the us Vs them attitude towards the fans that will be the last straw for me. Carol has started it and I assume he is for the high jump, but not the players please. They must know that it's the owners and not them that we're p****d off with.
Unfortunately there are enough people on Charlton Life and some on here who are taking a pop at some of the players. There is no I in team and even if there are a couple of people that team members don't think are up to it then I for one am pleased that Hendo recognises the ethos of the team and does the all for one defence of his team mates. I am certain they must recognise that the ire of the fans is focused on the owners and the revolving manager policy.
