If you like Thai, there is a really nice One called Thai Terrace, high up looking over the town.

I am assuming we are talking about Mrs Ruddick or Rudiac, just can't remember her name. She moved her practice to Chandlers Ford.

Hampshire Dentists nowadays, in High Street. Many of the current Mrs Onionman's friends go to him for his looks rather than his dentistry.

I can't understand it, given that they all have me to look at for free.

When I go to Guildford I eat in Britannia Rules the Wey by the canal. Its a pub but the food is good. There is a good Sicilian just off the high street with great food, a great owner, a really interesting guy but he knows bugger all about opera and he is an Italian FFS. There is an Italian called Olivio's I think not far from the Castle. Never been to Basingstoke so can't help and as for Petersfield I went to an antiquarian bookshop there a few years ago and the experience put me off the place for life. I still have nightmares and wake up in a cold sweat thinking about it.

That is not who I was thinking of but then I am talking about 1985 and at that time this guy wasn't even at infant school. PS Her name was Rudiak and she was the Saints dentist at that time.

Oh my lordy lord, I think I've been in there, but not as a Rambler. As a motorcyclist with that red thing on the left.

Did an impulse buy the other day of the book of JS and Mr N. off ebay, new for less than a fiver. Jeez, I know they said it was a big book, but it's way longer than Lord of the Rings.! Over a 1000 pages of titchy full page font. No blank page fillers in this one either.

Il Positano in Guildford is also very good. Italian place near the guildhall.

Loads of chain places as well if you want to go down that route.

Not sure what the red thing on the left is! but it's on a single track road from Merthyr Tydfil to the south of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the road ends behind Pen y Fan (the mountain)

Well worth the effort, though. I know the book's had mixed reviews but I got straight into it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Admittedly, it could have been pared down a bit but so could lots of other books. Haven't seen the TV series yet - that could be the big Christmas watch in my house.

Wow, are you in for a treat. I wished I hadn't seen it already so that I could experience it all new again.

I wanted to read the book first and there'll be quite a few months between reading the book and seeing the series so I'm hoping that a lot of it will be fresh and obviously, it'll be different to the book anyway.

Apparently, all they have done is made the story a fair bit tighter, though they have rearranged one or two events in the timeline. Essentially, they haven't buggered about with it too much, so I'm informed.

Oh, excellent! I can see where they could have tightened it up a bit, tbh. Definitely on the Christmas list then :)

I know the Red Cow in Pontsticill very well. Just north of the wonderfully-named Pant. My son went to Vaynor Comp. (before they knocked it down!)

If you want a walk with added drinking benefits, I'd recommend my local route, a few miles west of Ponsticill - through the waterfalls of the Hepste and Mellte:

Then back to my local The Red Lion, Penderyn (much loved by Johnny Depp). If you're still thirsty you could try here:

Just up the road; you can see it from The Lion:

    BTW, anyone recognise this pub?
