After returning to training, Rolando Aarons has been seen using crutches and wearing a protective boot which is supposedly after a strong challenge in training last Friday morning. It’s not confirmed how long the young winger (who turns 20 this month) will be out for, but in terms of his contract situation, this isn’t the worst news in the world. I genuinely believe Rolando looked at this year as a platform to attract potential suitors and use is contract expiry as a tool. However at this moment in time, he would be lucky to get a good offer from us, constantly injured and this will no doubt have a big influence on his development. I would love to see the guy sign a contract, get fit and reach his potential, but something tells me that this could end sourly.
You have all the ruthlessness of a Mike Ashley your heartless bxstxrd. The poor guy is probably devastated about this but you see it as an opportunity to keep hold of him. Shame on you! Any idea who put the tackle in - cant have been any of our defenders so my money is on Mitrovic - probably activated a pay increase in his contract as well.
It was probably on Mike's instruction the challenge went in. Left winger, so right back is my money and Daryl can be a bit hatchety at times. "Daryl come here - I have seen a situation where if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" "Yoush think because I amsh the dutch, I amsh into the kinky ****sh no? Bedankt but no bedankt" "No no no me old mucker. What I am after is you go over there and snap young Rolando, and I'll sanction your move to a better club (i.e anyone but Sunderland) in January" "Oh no problemsh with this, consider him schnapped"
I'm limping a little after 5-a-side last night, but nothing to worry about, lads. Oh, you mean THAT Rolando.....
I remember the beginning of last season after watching him against Shalke and got really exited only to be let down. Then this preseaon his bicycle kick and goals in the US got be really exited. I think instead of being burnt again, I have to let him go. It's just so hard!
Aarons deal runs out this summer but club have the option to extend for 12 months which they'll surely use. So effectively he's here for next season regardless. His injury problems are a concern though, certainly doesn't strengthen his position regarding a high salary when any new contract is offered.
I still find it amazing how some players seem to get injured all the time and others dont. This kid looked like he could be a real player but unfortunately he is going to end up being another maybe!
Article in the Mag about it, some of the tweets are quite funny, not really what you want to hear as a player thats been injured by what potentially could have been a horror challenge by a team mate in training! http://www.themag.co.uk/2015/11/inj...te-at-sarcastic-messages-from-newcastle-fans/
I think it is a bit ******ed for our own fans to be tweeting about him. I'm all for taking the piss out of just about anything, but this doesn't help us at all. I saw him out picking up a comic book the other day, he's a nice kid... please log in to view this image
Bit harsh the amount if stick he's been getting on Twitter. Sure it's not his fault, must just have terrible luck. Gutted for him.
Bit harsh? How can anyone be blamed for getting injured? Do they think he's putting it on or something? As far as I can tell, the kid is desperate to play and make a name for himself. Anyone giving him **** wants to **** off and support another club as far as I'm concerned.
I agree totally. I play for my Sunday League team as well, and am quite a crucial left winger for the team. However I have recently been labelled "Harry Kewell" for the non-stop bout of minor injuries I have been getting and being unable to get onto the pitch as a result. It hurts , surely for Aarons its the same, nobody wants to be constantly injured and labelled a crock. Give him a break!
Depends if you are making jokes or giving him stick for me. Jokes are fine, blaming him for being injury prone is a bit backward and non productive.
The lad has undoubted ability and is a very exciting prospect. He'll be absolutely gutted at all of these injuries. I'm hoping it's just an unlucky spell and not a sign that he is always going to be injury probe (though some people do turn out that way through no fault of their own). Looking for a silver lining, as long as he manages to come through these injuries and get over them properly, then this spell out might do him no harm at all. He was starting to get built up into some great hope last season (and in pre-season) - mainly cos we were desperate for any sort of good news to help us escape from the dross we were seeing in the performances week after week. As good as he is, he still has a lot to learn. For all there were moments of magic in his performances, there were also times when he was making he same basic mistakes that a lot of the others were making too.The weight of expectation could have got in the way of his natural development and learning he game. At least now when he comes in there should be a decent core of players who are starting to perform and we wont be looking for him to turn games around on his own. He should now have the room to come into the team as an exciting prospect rather than someone we are all pinning our last hopes on. I know might be clutching at straws, but if we take up the option on him then he has 18 months left here (at the minute) and as long as he develops enough to prove to the club that he deserves a new contract then he could become part of a very exciting attacking group of players along with Mitro, Perez, Arma, Wiji - and hopefully Thauvin (if he can turn out to be one of those who just needed time to adjust).
