I'm frankly flabbergasted on Mark Clattenburg decision of not retrospectively banning Costa. What kind of message does this send when Ref's do not apply the letter of the law, especially when it was such a blatant act of violence. Poor, very poor.

    Costa to escape punishment

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will not face disciplinary action after appearing to kick out at Liverpool's Martin Skrtel in Saturday's 3-1 defeat - according to English Football Association sources.

Referee Mark Clattenburg is understood to have seen the incident and opted against issuing a caution, meaning there can be no retrospective sanction by the authorities.

The two players had fallen to the ground after a challenge by Spanish international Costa.

"I think it is a clear red card," former World Cup final referee Howard Webb said. "He commits a foul on Martin Skrtel, then there is a little kick. The second action is a clear act of violent conduct. Diego Costa is a lucky boy."

Clattenburg clearly isn't fit to ref. He's always been incompetent. Such a shame he never got relegated to the championship after so many errors in his career.

    Shocking.

He bottled it and did the same for Lucas, too. No idea where he got the injury time that Liverpool scored in, either.
He's just not a very good official, in my opinion.

Bit rich of Webb to having a dig at him about not sending someone off, though.

Howard Webb is in no position to judge on refs bottling it. Man Utd got away with it for years when he was their 12th man.
That said, he's right about Clattenburg. He should have sent him off, he saw the incident and it's pretty scandalous to allow him to get away with it.
I wonder if Maureen will be moaning about it now being 'okay to kick people' ?

Looks like he's getting a one match stadium ban himself, so he'll be grumbling about that now....

The funny thing is, after that match, I saw Chelsea fans saying how they never get the rub of the green and how the referees are intentionally giving the opposition advantages because they dislike Mourinho's character <doh>

Since Maureen has come back to the Prem, Chelsea have gotten away with all sorts. The audacity to say something so stupid...

Football fans can be a deluded lot. Some Chelsea fans can be racist as hell, but when it comes to their black players like Drogba, they love them. Stange.
