Historically a poor month for us, hope we don't get caught out and end up flapping about our performances.
Blimey, guys! I DO have to wonder what we're now expecting! A win, a clean sheet and 7th. Can't really knock it, surely? Yes, we were 2nd best in the 2nd half. Yes, we probably would have been punished if Wilson were playing and, yes, we looked a bit ragged and Vic got sent off. BUT - there were a lot of positives, especially in that super 1st half. Personally, I reckon the players got wind that SOME supporters (you know who you are .... ) had bet that we'd win 5-0 and they reckoned we needed to slow down a bit in the 2nd half ....... For me - it was, again, great to put a face to a name before the game - at this rate, I'll finally know more than 5 of you before I give up my season ticket Onward and upward - a win up at Sunderland and home to Stoke and who knows where we'll be!!!
Saints seem to be passing a lot of tests, recently, coming up against teams that have things to prove. Chelsea - out of form and Mourhino's nonsense. Leicester - preserving their coming from behind record. Liverpool - new manager syndrome. Villa - sacked manager syndrome. Bournemouth - heavy defeat the weekend before. Sunderland - heavy defeat the weekend before. Be nice to come up against a settled team, for once, that isn't trying to put some kind of footballing trauma behind them, giving them extra incentive to beat us.
Obviously Vic will get a one match suspension but has he reached the magic 5x & will receive an extra game out as well ?
How good is Steven Davis recently by the way? He's been absolutely sensational for the last few weeks
Vic remains on 3 yellows so far this season. His 2 yesterday don't count on top as he will now serve a 1 match suspension, but he has to avoid another 2 bookings before the end of December. Romeu is on 4 yellows, so the way those two are going we could be without both of them by next month.
Police are appealing for witnesses to a post-match assault on a 39-yr-old man who is in hospital in a serious condition.
Hear bloody hear. I know we agree on this one, FLT. A good signing, and he is clearly enjoying being here. Apparently someone on Sky said that he'd been round a few clubs but had "found a home at Southampton". Bless. Clearly playing with confidence and NI's run to the Euros has helped, of course. He is one of those players you have to see live and keep an eye on. His work rate is incredible off the ball, and on the ball he is always looking to set things going. A very unassuming character, and a "player's player" I suspect.
I'm sorry but football really isn't a very complicated game. I'm sure a top level referee who refs every week can tell the difference between a cynical and mistimed challenge, most 10 year olds could. The beauty of football is how simple and intuitive it is.
I wanted to start a chant yesterday after his goal, but bloody lads scored again quickly afterwards... Maybe next game. "He's off to La France, he's off to La France, Steven Davis, he's off to La France"
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/139...r_Cherries_fan_seriously_injured_after_match/ Just looked up the assault. Embarrassing enough that it's a Saints fan that been arrested but bloody hell he's 53! There is absolutely no excuse at that age (or any really) for this sort of behaviour. Some people never grow up.
