Van Gaals doing what every manager ever does with young, pacey strikers.

Was Fergie a coward? Or what about Wenger? You know, when Rooney, Ronaldo, Henry were playing from wide despite their best positions being centrally, or as the main goal threat? No.

It's part of the learning process for players like that.

Yea, I guess pochetino should also play Harry Kane on the wings.

Is Kane a rapid skillful forward in the Ronaldo, Rooney, Henry sense?

No. So why the stupid suggestion?

Obviously Stan won't say Fergies a coward for doing it or every other manager who's had the same type of striker because its fergie, and he's not a coward, obviously.

But nor is van Gaal. I want Martial up top too, so does van Gaal, he said as much today but he also has to think of the team as a whole. We've lost Shaw so we've lost a lot of pace from the left. Take Martial away and we have Young (no), Memphis (poor right now) or.... Rooney.... Do you think Rooney out left will work? Or that Young will be supplying Martial consistently? Martials playing well and he's not supplying 30 crosses a game so can we trust Young to provide the chances?

Our last goal also came from Martial playing from the left did it not? V CSKA he moved infield from the left to bury that header. He do what wide forwards are supposed to.

Oh, and Martials played the vast majority kf his career on the win, he's played 15 games as a striker. And well, sorry Stan but you were one of those writing him off before he had signed his contract.... So you know.... Think van Gaal knows a little bit more about it than you. No offence.

Apologist bollocks, picking out two players who were wingers before they were converted into strikers (Ronaldo still doesn't play as an out and out striker) and another one who was played out of position to accommodate a superior player. The problem is Martial is being played out of position to accommodate an inferior player.

How often did RVN, Van Basten, Rush, Owen, Batistuta, Shearer, Fat Ronaldo, Lineker, Van Persie, Torres and countless others play on the wing to learn how to be a striker?

You're making yourself look foolish by trying to justify every decision LVG makes. In all seriousness you are no different to Astro who comes across as a clueless melt.

It is nor a stupid suggestion. Martial is more dangerous as a striker so why limit our attack by playing him on the wing? Just to accommodate Rooney,? Martial is a player that can score out of nothing. See his goals against Liverpool, his first against Southampton and his goal against CSKA. He is a player that can turn when backing a defender and try to score. Rooney on the other hand needs an own goal from Walker when he is free with an empty post. He is a player that can't even make an attempt on goal after a perfect through pass from martial, he is the type that couldn't even shoot with his left foot when through on goal against Swansea. How the manager thinks he's the better choice to play upfront marvels me.

As in every discussion you resort to making stuff up. I never wrote the lad off. I took the piss as I'd never heard of him. If you have to make stuff up then you should just give up as its all documented so you just come across as the petulant, glory hunting, fan boy that you are. If you ever get yourself over to OT stay out of the pubs and keep your opinions to yourself or you'll get your head ripped off. Genuine fans despise United fans like you!

Young has been injured and Memphis out of form, the only realistic option for wide left was Martial. Now Young has had some game time he can start there and Martial can move back up front.
The big choice will be Rooney or Herrera at 10, it better be Herrera and Rooney can go on holiday or a 12 month sabbatical.

ERM.... What did Bellion, sorry, Martial start out as.

    Oh yeh, a winger.

Perhaps if you hadn't written him off before he signed.....

You and others were writing him off and having you usual digs at LvG for signing him.

He made you and others look like tits and you've all backtracked sharpish.

Now your were just joking <laugh> sure.

I make nothing up. That's for others. I can show you some examples from recently if you like. The same names keep popping up <whistle>

Wait, so your saying Martial was basically the only and best option wide left, so a decision had to be made?

I've no faith in Young, since being told he's been one of our best players over the past few years, he's not lived up to those expectations. However he's probably the best option out wide if Martial goes central right now.

Produce a post where I wrote him off. I made a few jokey posts as I'd never heard of him. Perhaps you weren't able to see the humour given your head is permanently rooted up your arse. I don't offer opinions on issues, matters or players that I know nothing about. That's good counsel for you Astro.

As it goes, his youth career was spent as a striker.

It's all documented. Produce the posts where people wrote him off ie said he was **** and would be a failure. You seem to have plenty of spare time, find them, post them.

    So was Sol Campbell's.

Shouldn't take too long. Though you will simply claim how you were only joking yet had he fallen flat on his face.... I wonder what would have been said now..... What do you think?

Crack on. Find a post where I said I thought he was **** and would be a failure. they definitely don't exist as it's difficult to write off a player you've never heard of or seen play.

I would rather not waste my time for you to use your fall back of 'I was just joking, don't you know humour'

I wouldn't take up stand up if I were you tbh.

Though it makes interesting reading flicking through some of the threads. Jokes of course..... :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Nah, you just said he would be the next Bellion... Jokingly mind. You were on no way serious, now you have the benefit of hindsight.

You're the master of digging up old threads, you've spent your morning bringing up London's onlys threads. Does that mean you have a lot of spare time too?

Some days I do have a lot of spare time, it's the nature of the beast I work in.

So you're not going to back up your claim that I wrote him off? Where did I say that he would be the next Bellion? If it's out there find it and re-post it. I freely admit to posting stuff along the lines of "I don't know whether he's the next Bellion or the next Henry" but that's just being honest that I knew nothing about the player.

If you can't back up your claim you're basically admitting that you're a bullshitter as well as a plastic bell end.

Can you guess which is your post of the 3 below.

I don't see Henrys name being mentioned. Though had it someone could very well have lost their **** over it.
