I've just read the minutes from the Trust's meeting too. Pathetically inconclusive and pointless. http://www.castrust.org/2015/11/cha...nd/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Agree 100%. Cuddles statement "Roland will do things his way and the fans have to understand that" still applies. And look where that's getting us. I can't watch a lot more of the football we're playing, not because I plan to boycott it, just because it's unwatchable. And it only takes me an hour to get to The Valley from home, so fans who give up their entire day to attend will stop doing so, and the ground will empty. We're facing death by a thousand cuts. The apathy will slowly spread- look at this forum for instance: on match days nobody bothers any more. Only last night I was speaking to a fan who attends about 10 games a season. He has simply stopped going, and feels sorry for me because I have paid out for a season ticket. So I hope there is a large turnout at 2.30 on Saturday.
Cheers Don. Read it and weep. CAST are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Pointless giving them abuse when we have more important matters at hand, suffice to say that the CAST leadership are not my sort of people.
They appear to be trying take over the "open forum" with muzza and Meire. There is no end to the arrogance. Well, there might be.
As I understand it, CAST's strategy is to seek dialogue with Duchatelet and Meire. They have an "overwhelming mandate" from their members to do this, although I note that only 450 responded to their last questionnaire (it looks like their attendances are falling as well). But the owner has repeatedly said "**** off" to any dialogue with CAST, which in turn rather begs the question....is their strategy flawed
I think Cast are referring to the meeting in Woolwich, where a show of hands was in favour of dialogue. I voted against, but then again I'm not a member. I can't think of many things worse than being stuck in a room with Cuddles and RM for a couple of hours, but hey whatever turns you on. No doubt some will come out of the meeting satisfied with their own personal performance, but at they end of the day whoever goes will simply be fobbed off with a cheery smile.
CAST's stance reminds me of the peasant Polish villagers in 1939, who greeted the German panzers with a wave and the offer of delicacies.
The fact Prague was only prepared to address Kish's petition on CL says it all. They see an ''elitist'' divide, and that's why they will never reach fans beyond what they have. Sadly, I don't think they mind that too much, as long as they are largely unopposed amongst our fan group.
Cellini has agreed to sell Leeds Utd due to the fans' protests. He has also agreed not to attend Leeds matches because of the fans' treatment of him. Well done the Lees fans, pity we can't treat Roland the same way because he doesn't attend games anyway.
I've always got the impression that Cellino wanted to succeed and just had a strange continental approach to doing so. I think he's recognised - at last - his failure and realised he is unintentionally ruling the Club; you have to respect him for reaching that conclusion. It's going to be interesting to see how fair he plays though in any sale...
Cellino spent money in the summer - but he seems to neglect the other aspects. I'm sure glory will pop in and correct me if that's incorrect?
I wouldn't hold your breath. He will either change his mind or, more likely, he's counting on the fact that the fans would never be able to raise the money to buy his shares. However, he has 'offered', not his fault if it doesn't go through. I think if Duchatelet offered to sell it would be because he means it.
Has anyone else visualised what our Club and team would look like in League One under Douche? It is a frightening thought. That's why we need to ramp up the pressure now.
Ken- I am disappointed with your comment on CL this morning, in which you patronisingly say "A couple of dozen people in the car park on Saturday may be the way forward, but I doubt it". I know that you are a True Believer in CAST and its preferred method, despite the fact that KM has repeatedly slammed the door in your face, but don't you see the hypocrisy contained within your comment? CAST and your ilk claim that Charlton fans have to unite - and let me tell you that CAST is about as popular as rat poison with our under 25 supporters - and yet you undermine unity by patronising the demo. A very poor show, Ken (and I am being polite...)
There may be a place for CAST at some future time, but at the moment their policy of dialogue is futile. Eventually they will have to see that for themselves, maybe after they have been fobbed off at this meeting with KM &RM. I hope the demo is well attended, and it's a case of let's see what comes of it afterwards.
Pfft - I can't wait for Nego and Anil Koc to return. As for Polish Pete, let's just say I already know who's going to be on the back of my shirt.
If we do get relegated I see 6,000 home gates next season. Many more will just give up. That's not hyperbole. A lot is at stake now.
And if we don't get relegated he'll stay for sure, we have a great mix of mildly negative apathy that will turn mildly positive with a few wins, ensuring that Duchatelet stays for years.
................and once they've stopped coming they'll find other things to do with their time and money, so getting them back once Roland has gone won't be easy. Surely Richard Murray must realise this, as it means he can kiss his money goodbye. Just another demonstration of his zero influence.
