Just seen a report that Andy Caroll could be in line for an England recall. You have got to be ****ing joking (pardon my French). If England are short of strikers and you had to pick one from yesterday's game...there is only one option. Plus, I think Iggy got enough on the ball to claim that goal.
That was a terrible day. Anyone notice where Yeovil are now? Our two clubs can't really have gone in more separate directions since that game.
John Hartson on MOTD2 talking about Bournemouth 'They absolutely cruised to the Championship title last season'...mmm, not sure about that John.
I could only watch the 1st half . That is the best i have seen us play in a long time , We was in total control and it looked like there was only going to be 1 winner . Was we as good in the 2ond half ?
I heard that and nearly choked on my coffee, does he not remember it being resovled in the last few minutes on the last day ??
There are so many instances of the so called pundits getting it so wrong with us too this season. They don't know what they are talking about!
Depends on your definintion of cruising I suppose. Given we gave it away I'm not sure if Mr Hartson might be getting his definitions from David Pleat....
Does anyone know where MOTD has gone on BBC i-player ? All I can find is MOTD 3 MOTD2 extra , and no mention of us at all.
Many thanks for that - want our son and grandson to see why I spent all Sunday grinning like an idiot. Seems to happen quite often at present. Even when we don't win we give a good account of ourselves. The way Ighalo dumped stones and Jagielka ( England internationals - for years to come / has been for years) on their backsides at goodison was worth the whole trip on its own. The precision of his 2nd goal on Sat was a joy to behold.
This is what I posted on Facebook on Saturday to a former colleague who is a WHU Fan: "Hi mate, given your away record, we've only scored 1 goal at home this season, we've only once in the last 22 league games against you and not won at home league game against you since 1985 (it was 5-0), you should win this afternoon. However, records are there to be broken...". His reply was "Come on the Hammers!!!" My comment yesterday morning: "I'm not going to gloat for 2 reasons. You're still above us in the table and there is the return match in March." I must admit, I will find it hard not to smile when I next see him.
Much has been made of the error by Andy Caroll leading to our first goal. Why was he trying to defend? I think he was doing his bit to help out the defence which was under a lot of pressure. This says more about us than his error.
What seems to have gone unnoticed is that most (all?) of our goals this season have come from errors by the opposition. That does not happen by accident, unless we are the luckiest team in the history of the EPL. In tennis commentators talk about forced and unforced errors. That distinction does not seem to be understood by many analysts of our games. Quite a number of West Ham fans are claiming that they gave the game away. They agree that we were better but argue that we wouldn't have scored if they had not made mistakes. Two mistakes cost them the match. They ignore the fact that they did not capitalise on the errors we made. This observation, of course, is similar to the one that most teams that play us choose us for their worst performance of the season.
West Ham have made a quite a few mistakes trying to play around with the ball in defence maybe because they were used to kicking the ball away under Big Sam and now trying to play the "West Ham way"
