There was a thread about idols on here the other day. Check out what this guy did after the Rugby World Cup Final yesterday, on BBC. That's what sporting idols are made of.
Yep. And wouldn't take it back when the lads family wanted to give it back. That's how sporting heroes are made.
The ar****le of a steward who flattened the kid got off lightly - Sonny Bill is a handy heavyweight boxer and wasn't too pleased with him!!
That's all too easy to say, if he had attacked someone etc the steward would probably have been held out to dry.
I agree. It would have meant do much more for there just to have been one. But SBW couldn't have known they would have done that, and that's why the first one will mean much more to those young lads amongst us who hold our sporting heroes in such regard. For me, what he did was quite extraordinary. In the moment of ultimate achievement, he put a young boy, a total stranger, before himself.
Yeah that's what I mean. The replacement is worthless. Sbw will regard the medla he gave to the kid as his medal. The replacement will probably be little more than just a momento. I just wonder if he got caught up in the occasion and later come regret it a little. Nah, I don't think so either.
