    Morning Everyone,

My internet went down, and only just got it back.

Leeds play Cardiff tomorrow. At least the team would have had a couple of days recovery from our drubbing against Blackburn.

Surely Sloth should be given an opportunity?

    What about bringing Bellusci back?

    Should Woods be dropped?

Ex Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese is set to launch a bid to buy Massimo Cellino's controlling shares in Leeds Utd.

The Italian banker acted as executive chairman of the Saints between 2009 and 2014, and brokered the deal to bring Swiss billionaire Markus Liebherr to St Mary's.

The Italian fell out with Liebherr's daughter following his death, and left the club in 2014.

During his tenure, the Saints went from administration in League 1, to a top ten team in the Premiership.

Potentially some good news. But as ever, I'll believe it when I see it. Definitely a better option than a fans buy out, as he will have more money than the fans to improve the squad should a buy out actually happen

But he only organised the buyout at Southampton and subsequently ran the show. Wasnt the money man though. So hell be bringing others on board too just like the fans thing. Maybe theyll join forces. That could be an interesting combination

A far better idea than LUST Mark 2 thinking they can run the club from the peacock bar.....
Let's hope he still has access to the big money men...
This at least looks like a proper model. Hell we might even end is with more than one option....

From a financial standpoint, in particular, which has to perk up the ears of other potential backers. Saints invested quite a bit in the squad and infrastructure to get there, but the Liebherr family will realize a massive profit on that investment should the club be sold. Leeds is another good candidate, if the financiers have pockets deep enough to bankroll the first couple years (and buy the ground).

I still think the ultimate aim of LFU is to buy the GFH shares and not the whole thing. But by getting the DIP to create a bidding war for the major stake ownership of the major stake.

If you are right that would mean this lot are even more stupid than cooper when he ran lust.
Why would you increase the value of the shares you wanted to buy by creating a bidding war on 75% of available shares.

It's rare that anyone buys 100% of a club so I'm sure they will know exactly whose involved in the bidding war. This is me assuming they have good business sense and are savvy - if they are or not is a different story.

Cortese's reputation is without a doubt 1000 times better than Cellino.

Cortese's reputation is without a doubt 1000 times better than Cellino. Liebherr was a billionaire, obviously that helped.

Is that 2000 times better than Cellino?

That's hardly a ringing endorsement, Rightmove would be a 1,000,000 times better than Cellino.

Apologies Ell. But isn't that what everybody wants, someone rich in the background and those that know how to run a football club up front
If Cortese replicate what he achieved at Southampton here, I for one won't be complaining, that said neither would I be moaning if LFU could do the same.

Guys, if Cortese does front a bid, it'll have good money behind it as he's sharp as a knife and pretty well connected. He'll want to run the whole show though, and that means top to bottom regardless of tradition, existing structure or fans wishes. He's a complete control freak, ruthless just a little bit mental, and it will be his way or the highway...that said, he was fantastic for us at Saints, and even though he was a nutter, we loved him because he was our nutter despite his failings.
He's probably a great bet for you guys though, despite all the negative stuff you might read as he is completely driven and absolutely demands success. If he wants to bring Lufc back to the premier league, there might be some kicking and screaming, a few bodies buried and some disgruntled traditionalists but he'll get you there.

There's already been quite a few bodies buried so we won't make strange with a few more. As far as I can see thought this whole Cortese thing started with a comment he made at a dinner last week stating Leeds would be a terrific investment. That's a long way still from forming a bid in my opinion
