I do feel we have been sloppy in possession when we have been leading which has given the opposition impetus, however all of the players and Koeman mentioned this after the game, so hopefully it is something that will be remedied; perhaps it comes from the fear of the goals we gifted Man U by dwelling on the ball?

Tadic is surely about 5 times more effective on the left than the right. That's just in terms of end product, he also defends better on the left.

Maybe. We were very solid at the back and did well to not concede. But it's not ideal giving them so much of the ball.

Oh for sure. Just think Maya deserves some credit. He gets a hard ride on here and had his second decent game in a row.

It would be really great if we could please go back to (a) playing well at home for more than 45 minutes, and (b) Ron not taking any risks with players on yellow cards. Two home league games in a row now where I've been livid at our second half performances (and we also dipped significantly at home to Utd), and I was calling for Vic to be subbed anytime from HT onwards.

But having got that off my chest, I am going to focus on us being excellent - and completely dominant - in the first half, keeping a clean sheet, and winning the game. I think Cedric wins my MOTM.

Of course. The result is all that matters. But if you control the game and the ball it is much easier to protect a lead. The opponent can't score if they don't have the ball and you have a much greater chance of scoring another goal to put the game completely to bed.

Tbf, I thought the team lacked a little leadership in the 2nd half, but Maya played fine from the 20+ minutes I saw of the 2nd half [called away]. Hopefully later I'll have the 90 minutes link up for people to see their team and dissect the performance without the emotional involvement.

2nd half was frustrating to watch but actually may do us a favour in the long run.

The team would have learnt alot about themselves and as a group.

Despite bompeys dominance we restricted them to very little in clear cut chances.

It was a very good test of character at least.

No I remember the poch days when we had 60% possession and lost, somehow I prefer the koeman method

The fact is we weren't lucky at all imo, we dealt with what we were up against, it may not be to the satisfaction of the purists, but first half we showed how to attack, in the second half how to defend, resulting in 2 great goals for us and a clean sheet, it could only have been better if we had scored enough goals to go above Spuds, and had we continued the first half performance that wasn't impossible.

I'm going to post a couple of views before reading what you others have written.

    Good result
    Excellent first half
Sat back too much in he second half
We missed having Long and Jayrod to bring on as runners as Pelle needed someone else to do it once Vic was red carded.
First half excellent. Second half sloppy, but resolute.

    Players:

Vic was great until the red card
VvD was good but King showed him a clean pair of heels a couple of times.
    Cedric was very good
Pelle was great in the first half but stopped holding it up in the second when we needed a breather.
Mane has had much better games
Yoshida did a good job when he came on.

Bournemouth fans were excellent with their noise and singing, but something kicked off at half time judging by the number of police who dashed down to the concourse. Couple that with this incessant attempt at creating a rivalry; Stop being dickheads and stick to that great support you give your team. Learn from that class manager of yours. Never have I had to dash to the side of Britannia road because 8-10 police horses were galloping down the street. More police here than for almost any other team (except Pompey)... Seriously? That's a shame.

Eddie Howe - jeez what a fella. I listened to his interview with Solent afterwards and he has so much class. He kept saying how great our goals were and didn't make any excuses whatsoever. I am seriously impressed with him.

Oh my.... I've only scrolled up this one page and I'm in such a chilled mood that I won't bother with the rest for now.

We won. We are 7th in the league. We weren't great for 90 minutes (if we had carried on like the first half, it would have been 5 or 6), but come on people.

Has anyone (I've not read back remember) even considered giving any credit to Eddie Howe and his team. He changed things tactically and it made a difference. Thankfully not enough of a difference. For him and those players, I hope they stay up.

Nah. Home now with the wife and kids relaxing (X factor - don't laugh)... Too chilled.

Ifs and buts and pots and pans. My Auntie doesn't have a penis, so she is not my uncle. Fact. We won. Happy.

OK, we'll argue at a later date because I was far from happy with the second half and I've made my feelings clear. :)

I listened to so many people moaning that Vic was left on while having a yellow card. He wasn't really going round living on the edge and you can't just sub a player whenever they are on a yellow. Sometimes you need to leave the player on. I'd be asking why the hell that player was allowed to run 20 yards through the heart of us before anyone made a tackle.

I'll read them later Mr Perfect. :)

Ps. Did you read me say I was happy with the second half? Maybe I just dealt with it better than you.

It is rare for anyone on here to give credit to the opposition, they simply don't have our permission to be any good against us!
