Twice he's been one v one with a £40m+ defender and twice he's made him look amateur! And Defoe trots along as if tomorrow would do! He may beknackered but come on. The lad does the work you need back up!

    Watmore should've scored there mind

    not arsed!

New formation, missing loads of key players with knocks. Look 100000 times better going forward.

    We will twat southampton !!

Shame... As we have canny pace and creativity going forward.. BUT.. It's a formation that needs good defenders and time to adapt.
    We have neither unfortunately.

Defence was **** but that's not surprising seeing as Brown is out of practice and has the sprint speed of a sloth. We can't be relying heavily on Coates he's not good enough. The three at the back system failed dismally and should not be repeated.

Watmore should have been on instead of Rodwell.

    How`s that for a start?

Well, we fought back to 2-2 and things were looking rosey.

Playing some great one touch football, from both sides, it was a great game!

    Then we just imploded!

Once the hyperbole has calmed down we need to take a long cold hard look at what happened in those 7 or 8 minutes that blew us out the water.

I know some mags will point out and take the piss about what I'm about to say, but there were so many positives until it all went to pot.

We're all shell-shocked at the minute, but there are still so many positives. On the down side we just need 6 new signings at the back <laugh>

The formation: Should be shelved till the Summer and certainly never tried without O'Shea and Kaboul. Bad call Sam

The Defence: It's ****e. It will be what takes us down and it will be nobody's fault but Short.

The Game: Great game for the neutral, even entertaining for losing fan.

Pants: We might as well suck an oak tree in goal. Poor game.

Kone and Lukaku: **** me they look handy together.

Performance: Look great on the counter but the state of our defence means we're opened straight back up every time.

Watmore: Needs more game time. Had too much time for the goal, showed he's not without his flaws, I prefer him as an inside forward as when he slips into the channels or drops deep he looks a nightmare.

The Officials: Hate the ****s but you've got to give credit where it's due. That's without doubt the best officiating I've seen this season. Marriner too. <laugh> He let the game flow, communicated with his colleagues very well and almost got everything spot on.

The result: Could have been 6-5 but Everton were way more clinical. The only thing that matters. Thoroughly deserved victory for Everton

Not from me. You HAVE to take the positives, even in a bad defeat, when you are starting out on a new road and trying to play a different way. I didn't watch the game so have no idea how you played, but starting afresh takes time - especially when your manager hasn't finished (or even started in your case) building his team. A lot will depend on how much money is made available to both of our managers in January.

Don't know about that like. Replace Cattermole with Watmore? How does that work?

Think you learned today that you have the ability in the squad to stay up comfortably, but whether you have the mental strength is questionable...

    Replacing him with Rodwell did?

Funky asked for talking points. Seems we found one. <devil>

Catts was a big miss. Dunno who would take his place tbh. Larsson probably a better choice than Rodwell.

Yes we have on your first point, the second point is why we've brought in Big Sam, to fix that!

I still think we'll stay up.

Rodwell was as anonymous as usual but I seriously doubt Watmore would have been anything other than disastrous in CM. If you mean that we should have switched players round that would have been no good either, Johnson or Defoe in CM? No thanks.

Like you say Larsson would have been a better choice than Rodwell. I think we try Rodwell at CB and when that doesn't work sell him on.
