To be fair it all went pear shaped when cesc came on. No we werent great going forwards but for 60 mins we were a solidish unit. Rlc and ramieres would be a good shout though. Lots of drive, though the passing would take a hit. The answer surely is to stop using this formation as it benefits non of our players.
Possibly anticipating the end - every post match occasion is pretty much looking like a wake something has to give there are some jokers out there who are marking time.
Not easy trying to remain positive and upbeat given the continuing slump in form and performances of key players - a lack of suitable replacements, past achievements and supporters reaction might just give him a slender lifeline....3 premier games tops. Would've been interesting if Klopp had still been available.
Jose is under pressure but his players have this season really slumped. Whether it is due to Jose himself or for other reason. GK: bergovic is not Courtois. Not even Cech who should never have been sold DEFENCE: Terry and Cahill are just no longer the players they were. They are simply liabilities. MIDFIELD: the only performer is Willian who has scored from his free kicks. Hazard is 20-25% the player of last season and so is Fabregas. Matic is also under par and when he is not playing, the midfield is like butter. ATTACK: Costa plays on edge. He takes risks. Either he is suspended or spends time fouling. The reserve striker is Falcao. Say no more. As I said in another thread, we know he is no super sub and bringing him is a sign of desperation. MANAGER: has lost his focus early this season by unnecessary distractions like the doctor and Wenger and picking up fights with the press, the refs and the FA. Sorry but that's the way I see it. And the irony is that many of these could have been avoided. The leader (manager) sets the example and the tone for the season. He started badly and his team followed. Greatest manager of the premiership, he's not! Having said that, today's match could have easily gone differently. The equaliser was scored 2 min 40 sec after the 45 mins in the 1st half. Incredible 40 secs added when there had been not a single stoppage in that time. Then Lucas should have been sent off. No argument. And even if Costa had been sent off earlier, the game would have changed with Chelsea defending en masse and getting everyone behind the ball. With a draw likely.
You're on bitter ****, Willian rolling around pretending his back was hurt on numerous occasions in the 1st half was responsible for the added on time.
How is that possible when the board said 2 mins and in that 2 mins there were no stoppages? You won, at least be cool about it.
Some good points there esp about the spine of the team - when all is said and done the buck stops with the coach: the discipline, team selection and fitness is his responsibility. Personally I think he's lost his mojo and has become complacent; I suspect Roman took the day off to keep a lid on the speculation......fat chance.
Don't think he has lost his mojo, I think he has come up against something he hasn't faced before (failure) and isn't sure how to deal with it. You could be right about Roman though, how many home games does he usually miss in a season?
