Well Rooney had the ball for a second.....

In midfield, good ball but he needed to be on the box...
 
Much better now. Taken all the pressure off. Need to get players in the box. Palace are committing fouls all over the place and have gone a few yards deeper.

Palaces game plan was to try and Arsenal us.
 
Rooney 1 on 1 .... oh dear :(

Definitely lost a yard of pace. You normally only few great chances like that in a game.

Herrera is such a fantasticly versatile MF, a quality footballer utterly wasted under LVG.

I'm a fan of Rooney, but it's obvious to everyone at best he's out of form and lost some pace. Not sure why Martial is not up top as his pace would worry any defence.

His first touch, link up play and reading of the game has turned to poo sadly. I'm hoping Depay (or Young if he's on the bench) comes on. I've said on another thread that there are rumoirs that his contract and our sponsorship deals has something to do with all this.
 
That sums up our hesitancy going forward. Rooney picks the wrong pass. Mata indecisive and takes too long to pass. Martial doesn't pass first time but takes a couple of touches before picking out Herrera. Whereas Rooney could have passed first time to Herrera who was though on goal or at the least would have pulled the defence away for Martial or Mata to come into the box. Just no zip about our play.

Actually our striker received s very good ball with his front to goal. But unfortunately that striker was Rooney.
