Good lad. Took a while (and cost a bob or two in the process) but you got there. <ok>

Can`t remember where your missus is from. Are there any `evil spirit halloween` type traditions?
Not meaning to intrude mate, if it`s inappropriate say so and we`ll leave it. I know the cross-culture thing can get a bit sensitive and that`s not my intention. Just interested if there`s a demon type equivalent.

edit: bollocks, had a couple, not sure I`m saying what I mean here. :emoticon-0127-lipss

No problem pops. She's ethnic Bengali and Muslim, just as my daughter is. They have their superstitions just as we do.

I'm as dismissive of her superstitions as I'm dismissive of ours, just as she is of both cultures as well.

But we both enjoy them all as they turn up.

My wife and daughter didn't "do" Halloween until we married. They then got caught up in it all and loved it, especially when my daughter was younger.

Christmas is absolutely massive(!!!!) in our house! I have no happy memories of Christmas as a kid so I've always gone way overboard at Christmas with mine, and even though our youngest are both 21 now, they're still as excited about Christmas being just a few weeks away as they ever were!

We've melded in an extraordinary way mate. My sons both love and respect their step-mum. And my daughter, by marriage, is as much my daughter as my sons are mine.

I got there in the end pops!

I walked up to a lass at Halloween party in Newcastle last night and said, "You look fantastic, where did you get those teeth?"

"I was born with them." she replied.

having had about half a dozen trick or treaters knocking at my door can I ask anybody how much is acceptable to give them. its just that the majority of the little sods seem to give me the impression that the 50p i give them is an insult to their profession. they walk off, shoulders hunched, after a muffled 'thank you' making me feel like scrooge mcduck! about 25 years ago i used to be overjoyed if we received a 10 pence piece cos we normally would just receive copper. am i being tight? how much do those on here give?

I went to the fancy dress shop yesterday to buy a Dracula costume for Halloween, the girl who served me brought me a Newcastle United shirt, I think she must've misheard me - I said I want to look like a Count
