Jose: "Liverpool is a big club, Manchester United is a super big club. Last season Liverpool win nothing and didn't qualify for the Champions League." Thoughts... please vote in my poll
I don't know the context. But is that a slight on Liverpool or Jose's secret love of Manu? Looks both to me.
Liverpool are of course a big club but I would put them in the tier below the likes of Real, Barca and United these days' In simplistic terms, you just can't go 25 years without winning your own league plus sell your best players of the last few years (Torres, Sterling, Suarez) and still be considered one of the biggest clubs in the world in my view.
They've only taken part in the CL once in the last 5 years. They've only won 1 pot (the Mickey Mouse) in 9 years and they've not won their own domestic league for a quarter of a Century. Super Club? I think not.
Fair point... at the moment... Real Barca Bayern Juve United Milan Chelsea Arsenal PSG City Inter Liverpool
On form or the strength of the teams, agreed But if we are talking about the stature of the club, which is based on more than the current strength of their team, then I think United is above juventus and closer to the top 3 than the milans or Chelsea.
Of course Liverpool are not a super big club at the moment. Man Utd, Barca, Real Madrid and Bayern are the only ones id class as Super big. Then there are big clubs for various reasons below them. Liverpool, Milan, Juve, Arsenal, Chelsea, ManCity, PSG etc Liverpool, Milan, Juve have been super big clubs but things change.
I don't know why but I just never see Juve as a massive club. Not sure why someone would have them third. Depends on how you define a 'big club' but if you look at the value of it and it's fan base then Manchester United are easily top 3. If we're looking at recent trophies then not so much!
So we've all been right all along, we are still a big club....... Just not a super big club. This raises questions? Are Barca and Real super, super big clubs? Are Bayern an uber club with them being German? At what point to you change between the rankings and is there a graph?
Super big club Juve have never filled their new stadium since it was opened and have a lower average attendance than Roma. Super big.
Rubbish. Their new stadium holds 40k and they have averaged 38,500 since it opened in September 2011. It has been full for the vast majority of games since then Juve have the most plastics all round Italy like United here
We'll be going the same as way them if he doesn't sort his head out. Less of the talking and time to get the team sorted.
Wrong as usual. Capacity: 41,475 Highest ever attendance: 41,182 v Dortmund in the CL. That means the stadium has never been full even for a CL match Average attendance last season: 38,553, this bit you were right about but it underlines my point that they never fill the stadium and have an average attendance lower than Roma. Are you a Juve fan now?
Damaged your point by including Torres. He was in decline when he left Liverpool. They just mugged off the next team to buy him. Whoever they were.
If you are going to be pedantic then no one fills their stadium ever. Even a cup final etc is a few hundred under capacity. Someone always can't make the match and resell their tickets etc
