The United man said: “The hardest thing to coach is scoring goals and creativity. I was at the derby on Sunday and Rooney’s movement was brilliant, but when he’s playing in that team there’s no one prepared to pass to him. I think after 20 minutes you’d be tearing your hair out.

“I played with some brilliant centre-forwards and I don’t think they could play in this team – the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham. You don’t get crosses into the box or midfielders looking for runs.”

We all know the UTD team of old was much better than the team now, so your point is.....

Rooney could be playing for Barca, it wouldn't change the fact that he's as slow as a 40 year old Sheringham and his first touch is on a par with a 4 year old Heskey.

The Dutchman said: 'He (Scholes) doesn't have the responsibility, so he can say everything. Why is he saying something? For the benefit of the club or the benefit of himself?

'I don't want to defend myself because I cannot defend, because he is a legend and he has a lot of resonance, so I hear. I think when you are a legend, you have to speak with the manager or his friend, Ryan Giggs, or Ed Woodward, but not this way, because he will be paid by the BBC or Sky.

'You have an expression. I always use Dutch expression, but you have a fantastic expression for that - sticks and stones can break my bones, but names [words] will never hurt me."

One thing's absolutely for sure. At least now we know what Giggs thinks as well <ok>

So basically were not passing to Rooney enough?

I see Treble has changed his stance ln Rooney now as well. Van Gaals fault.

So you are a sky sports era fan then? Using the opinion of someone paid to stir up **** ffs.

At least be consistent. And Giggs will be sacked any day then? Yeh....

I think it's been blatantly obvious how Giggsy feels by looking at his face. He looks embarrassed at times.

Someone? Bloody hell you jetison legends like you do your principles. This isnt just someone. Everyone except for the most bitter ABU knows Scholes was one of the most intelligent and creative footballers of his generation. He knows what he's talking about. Certainly has a bit more substance to his viewpoint than "you're all a bunch of moaners!" :)

Anyway I thought we were listing ppl who agree with us. We're making camps ooooh bcos we need that to feel we're right. I've got Scholes and Giggs on my list <diva>

Scholes was a great player. One of the greatest. He's a rubbish pundit though.

Keane is a legend too, he's also a **** pundit, manager and a bellend but it doesn't make him any less of a legend.

Would have to agree that Scholes is a ****e pundit, one of my all time favourite players though.

Neville on the other hand is class.

Neville is an great pundit. Certainly knows the game from a tactical viewpoint. Managers and players view the game differently anyway and not all players develop the managerial qualties.

Neville is a little Ott with his united criticism at times, but I suspect that's a Sky thing. Its possible the same applies to scholes too, to be fair.
