I may have this wrong but doesn't/didn't he support Saints as a youngster too? Keeping that quiet in that interview as I doubt the Bompey supporters would be pleased to hear it. He was one of a few players that stood out for us back then, always gave his all and as others have said didn't want to go, but left because he knew the funds generated would help the club shuffle on a little longer.
My apologies to Andrew then. I (think!) remember an interview with mark Wotte about that time at the club, sounded like chaos.
did you know this will be the 1st meeting of saints and bmouth in the top flight for 125 years!!! Typical. Bournemouth wait 125 years to face their south-coast neighbours in a top-flight derby and when it finally comes around, they’re savaged by injuries. But there’s no point moaning about that and, besides, in the honourable midweek defeat to Liverpool Harry Arter made an encouraging return from a long lay-off so could be in line to feature this weekend, adding precious steel to Bournemouth’s midfield. But Southampton’s defence looks too strong to be pierced by an attack that seems ominously blunt without Callum Wilson, and the visitors’ rearguard could be vulnerable if Artur Boruc is in one of his scatterbrained moods against his old club. PD
Can we expect a large police presence on Sunday? I would be surprised if there was any trouble but remember some Bournemouth supporters trying to kick off in town the last time we met.
I reckon so yeah, like you say they kicked off last time at the ground and in town so reckon the police will be on top of it. I'm sure SKY are gonna try and hype it up as much as possible!
It has been discussed before but I just don't get there dislike for saints, and it must frustrate them that just about all of us feel the same way.
On Sky, Danny Higginbottom corrected the idea that this match rivalled that with Portsmouth. Said it's more a friendly rivalry.
So sorry about this... I'm sure Skeletonburg will be out of this world, and Count Van Dijk will put up a spirited defence with Dead-ric Sores and Ryan Bloodhound to lend a severed hand. James Ward-Faust and Dusan Vladic will feast on the Bourne-of-the-jackal-mouth defence, and Sadio "Masochist" Mane and Ghoulazziano Helle will give them nightmares. Oh, and look out for a brief appearance of Ghoston Ramirez towards the end...
Seriously, the others tried to say it rivaled the Portsmouth rivalry. I hope they were trying to hype it up rather than knowing that little about us.
I'm not sure if the glowing praise form Paul Merson has been mentioned: "I'm going with Southampton here, they're a half-decent side and they'll have too much for the Cherries." Wow, thanks. In other word we are a good side but we aren't Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs so he can't make himself say it.
Oh it's been mentioned, dissected, examined, frowned upon, treated with disdain, etc. Go to Fran's post on page 2 and read on.
No problem. You might have known someone on here would have got in mere seconds after the words were published on SKY.
Listening to Ron, it took me a few seconds to realise that 'born a mouthy' was the name of the opposition and not a comment on Boruc's character.
Coming down from Uni to watch the game and really stoked for it. Really have to win the game as most of my friends are bmouth fans. In regards to the rivalry, There is potentia to be one, but right now there is simply not enough history between the two sides.
