They were so dominant that they couldn't score past us for 44 mins and were restricted to edge of the box scuffed shots.

    Game plan worked a treat.

Surely this has got to be a first, we are still talking on the match day thread of our previous game on the day Bri fires up the match day thread for our next match, just shows how our neighbour's bleating about their perceived injustice has kept this thread going, unbelievable.

They "bossed" the game like we "bossed" West Brom - i.e. had loads of possession and did ****-all with it.

If you waste periods of possession, if your finishing is dreadful with the few chances you carve out, and if you make **** defensive mistakes - well Steve, you're likely to lose games, sorry.

In case you`re just catching up mate, we won. <ok>

and the best team there`s ever been in the world ever in the history of football, didn`t.

with the best ground and the best fans etc. They had more possession, more goal attempts, more corners and they have more airports.

just keeping you up to date.

Oh. And Dawn Thewlis is in rehab.

    Again. <laugh>

Lee Ryder has his eye on things though. Nobody`s sure which one but there we go. <ok>

To be fair some of the Mags have been quite generous in defeat.

Some of the lads, on the Newcastle board, have posted a thread just to encourage me, a lifelong Sunderland supporter, to post on there.

Apparently they've gone to all that trouble, during this terrible time for them, just to fish for Smug. Not only that, they've posted various tags with my name in them just to make me feel at home. I have to say they're a credit to Not606, and their club, with their witty banter and clever fishing techniques.

No one could ever accuse them of being obsessed with SAFC, this board or Smug ......... no way, I'm certain they're just being friendly across the divide <ok>

It's amazing, and a bit sad, that my name's never off there and, when I pop in every now & again to stick a few harmless posts on, they scream 'obsessed'.

TBH, if you blocked the words 'obsessed, beel, meltdown, fishing & bite' over there most posts would be blank.

It's very rare you see anything original over there which is why I don't bother ........ the 'banter' is woeful.

Anyway, I only went over there in response to ACS creeping back on here.

Now that I've wound them up into a Smug tagfest I'll leave them alone for a while.

Since I posted a few harmless little comments their board has never been so busy ........ they're in a frenzy over there.

In fact I barely commented, just cut & pasted stuff from Shearer etc <laugh>

    According to the chronic al Newcastle Untied called Mark Halsey the former ref before appealing Cocco's ban and it turns out that he advised them to go with the angle that there was no guarantee that Fletch would have got to the ball;

Newcastle United consulted former referee Mark Halsey before appealing Fabricio Coloccini’s Wear-Tyne derby red card, according to the ex-Premier League official.

Halsey claims the Magpies “asked for his opinion” and that he “advised” them that Coloccini had not “denied a clear and obvious goal-scoring opportunity” when he fouled Steven Fletcher in the box.

United saw the red card overturned by a Football Association Regulatory Commission on Tuesday, meaning the Argentine is available to face Stoke City on Saturday.

Halsey, 54, believes Bobby Madley was “all too eager to show a red card” – and would even like the ‘double-punishment ‘law as he calls it, when a penalty is awarded and a player dismissed, removed altogether from the game.

Writing in his column for The Bolton News, Halsey explained: “If (Bolton) Wanderers had picked the phone up and asked if they should appeal Prince-Desire Gouano’s red card on Saturday, I’d have said: ‘Yes!’

“Newcastle United asked me my opinion on a very similar incident involving Fabricio Coloccini and after reviewing the footage I advised them to make a case saying he hadn’t denied a clear and obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

“Shortly after I’d landed back in the country after a busman’s holiday in Doha on the Keys and Gray show, I got a text saying the Toon defender had got off his ban.

“In Newcastle’s case you simply could not guarantee that Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher was going to get the ball when Coloccini made the foul, therefore you can’t say for sure whether it was an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

“Referees, in this case Robert Madley, are all too eager to show a red card. It’s too easy to send a player from the field but the benefit of the doubt should go to the defender if he’s going to give a penalty anyway.

“The double-punishment law is something I’d like to see gone from the game. It serves no purpose.”
