Why is it that supposed top managers cannot say anything nice about a lower league team that have just knocked them out of a cup competition. He claims Boro were lucky, his players missed chances from 1,2 &3 yards, that's not Boro being lucky that his players being carp in front of goal. Have a word with yourself, you Dutch idiot.
Boro got away with 3 penalties, at what point do you want him to start being humble and bigging up the smaller team? If you lot had been dumped out of the cup by United after we were awarded 3 penalties that were all soft, would your manager turn round and say "We were beaten by the better team"? No he wouldn't, he's too busy yapping on about how **** other managers are whilst looking into a dusty medal drawer with nothing but contacts in it for 'Sports scientists' **** sake.
I wouldn't begrudge them of a win mate, but I'd be ****ing disappointed if Van Gaal stood there and said we were outclassed, fact is he blamed his own players for missing chances more than he claimed they were lucky.
This is what's different about modern managers compared to the likes of Stein, Busby, Shankly etc. They lack respect for the game that gives them their living. You could see that the old fellas absolutely loved the game ........ to the likes of Van Gaal it's a tedious business where success is all there is. You had to respect people like Paisley, even if you hated Liverpool, because they were a fan just like you.
Im fecking gutted Boro won. You dont realise how bad it is living in Teesside now surrounded by fickle Boro fans.
Your job is on the line in every game mate, more or less nowadays. There's so much more money involved that the pressures are cranked up tenfold in the modern era. You get epic meltdowns every week from possibly the best manager in the world, would Busby have given the media that in his day? I'm not Van Gaal's biggest fan, but no way would I ever expect him to say Boro were the better team when they got away with 3 penalty claims. People expect humility in every defeat, it's not gonna happen, I prefer a sore loser than somebody who's an expert loser.
People like Busby were hard men with a cracking and wicked sense of humour ....... they'd have handled the modern media with ease. Bob Paisley never raised his voice, even to his players, 'speak quietly and people listen harder'
They managed to find 40k for the playoff final in May aswell. Their average gate last year was 18k. Its gone up slightly this year to about 20k, so that tells you what kind of fans they are!
Terry, You lot not getting three penalties had got nowt to do with the Boro, those are the refs responsibility, I'm not asking him to big up the winning team just tell it how it is, Boro being lucky was not the issue, your lot missing a hat load of chances and then missing three penalties would suggest the blame lies in your team.
As to was Fergie, he never gave the media anything, he was one of the worst losers in football. People chat as if managers these days just go off on tangents, only Mourinho does that, the questions are loaded 9/10 times to get stories out of a press conference that would otherwise be drab.
