He was 30 I think, we paid £5m out of the £24m we got for Lescott. He was fantastic for 5 of his 6 seasons, then he lost his pace and his edge went with it. Great athlete and a quality pro though. Still looks a proper unit at 37 tbf
At his absolute peak Lescott was a better all round player, especially when you add in the goals he scored for us, but in terms of his longevity and his defensive intelligence, Distin outshone him. Lescott always needed to be marshalled and covered by a player with the game reading ability of someone like Jags, who made him appear better than he actually was imo
Saints away... could have been easier. Always prefer a home tie but missing City & Everton at this stage was fine. City in Semi and Everton in final me thinks
A dream but also a bloody nightmare. If we lose you'll be even more of a ****ing nightmare than usual.... but if we win, given how often you're on our board every reply to you will mention the result
I've been to our Wembley derbies mate, the 84 league cup final was one of the best days of my life as a kid, even though it ended 0-0. It'd be a dream for me to see a repeat 30 years on, the experience and memories would mean as much as the result tbh.
I hope the Rubén Neves rumours are true because our midfield desperately lacks a deep lying playmaker.
We beat them last time at Wembley (2012) even though they were favourites IIRC. Everton are one of the best teams for us to face because they simply can't handle the occasion of playing Liverpool and almost always bottle it.
Don't get me wrong. If it did happen I'd be praying that we stuffed you, as there's 3 visits and no pots for us in that match up so far, and suffice it to say I'd be ****ing ecstatic. However my comments still stand, as this time I'd be taking my own lad
Yawn It's that kind of attitude that fuels the new age hatred, that replaced the previous more amicable banter
Problem with Wembley is 5000 LFC fans, 5000 Everton fans, 10000 #neutrals, 70000 corporate and football family seats
Stating facts about Everton under performing against Liverpool, isn't hatred. You've had your strongest team since the 80s (imo) in the last 5 years or so and you've only beaten us once, 5 years ago. You haven't beaten us in 11 games. Yes, there have been 7 draws but you should've beaten us a lot more than you have over the last 5 years, especially with us being as awful as we have. If you were unbeaten in 11 games against a team and had only been beaten by them 3 times over the last 10 years, you would be pretty confident in playing them as well.
