I still reckon Cestria was difficult to beat in the taking his ball home stakes. Those leaving threads were epic. The best do it in style with a song and everything. I love it when they creep back and then pretend it never happened.

well, it's taken a while to collate responses to the multitude of bitter nags on here but here goes:

Which 3 wise men were these, then? Name names, please. They don't publish that kind of info so you can't. I heard Marco Gabbiadini saying he's been on FA panels before and those people were clueless. Why would this be any different?

According to the laws of the game you are allowed to shield the ball as long as it is within playing distance.

Clearly wasn't legitimate at all. Fletch had a chance, no matter how slim, to play the ball. Colo had none therefore stonewall penalty.

Best you have another look at both of those incidents. Good job you aren't a ref
    [/QUOTE]

And right there’s your answer: Colback's right foot – not even half a chance is it?

    Guess again

This law no longer exists and is down to the refs discretion.

For what it's worth I was surprised to see the penalty awarded, the way our luck has been going week after week i expected that to be waived away, i was even more surprised to see Colo get a red. We weren't the better team in terms of passing and possession but we clearly had a plan to let your players, buoyant off the back of a 6-2 win, have the ball in your own half, work hard in our own half and hit you on the break. we executed that plan perfectly and Newcastle fell for it. sure the sending off helped Sunderland but would you expect us to voluntarily withdraw a player to even the sides up or take advantage of the extra man?

you know this for sure ?????
because it's strange that it's still in my official book
and still on the FA website

LAW 12 – FOULS AND MISCONDUCT
    Offences committed by goalkeepers
A goalkeeper is not permitted to keep control of the ball in his hands for more
    than six seconds

I would have to agree with this, otherwise the opportunity for time wasting would be ridiculous.

    I stand corrected. My apologies.
I was shouting about an opposition keeper doing just that one game last season and was promptly shut down by my fellow supporters on the terrace. Seems they were wrong and I should have checked.
