My regard for Corbyn rocketed when I discovered he'd toured europe on a CZ250 twin in the 70s (two up!). Cameron will hold no fear for him after that.

I once rode a CZ175, [with semi-automatic gear change, no less] round the block, as my brother briefly owned one, and he wanted my opinion. It was fine, but incredibly basic compared to the Japanese bikes of the time. This would have been about 1978. Being basic didn't make it any more reliable, but it was OK. Not the bike world's most pleasurable ride, but more of a two wheeled car. It got one from A to B.

Touring Europe, two-up is something I wouldn't consider on anything less than my bike. Corbyn gets my admiration. :)

Errrm, I have two CZ175s in my garage at the mo. They have a certain charm and are almost as powerful as the 250 twin. Best of the lot (not saying much some would say) was the 250 single often sold as a Jawa, less tuned it was much nicer to ride if a bit slow.

Even though I have full luggage I'd be loath to take the Guzzi two up over distance, must be getting old.

    TWO..!?! :)

Yes, I remember the CZ's and Jawa you mention. MZ also made a 250 single which went OK and was long lasting. Thing is, with these bikes, the build standard was not upto Japanese levels, but in a certain way that worked in their favour. For one, they didn't have to be perfect to work. Japanese bikes can be awfully tetchy unless they are well maintained. Bikes that are designed to work in less well states of maintenance tend to work on, and CZ's were pretty good in this respect. I assume were talking about this era:

Still don't see the appeal in Corbyn. His policies will ruin the economy. Personally think the whole tax credits thing has been way overblown.

I suppose it depends on how you are affected by it or if it all. My problem with the tax credit cuts is it's going to drive alot of people are working full time on minimum wage to signing on the dole instead.

For example I am currently casing my employers for a payrise, as I'm on minimum wage and if I lose Tax Credits I simply won't be able to afford to work (that's a weird sentence to type<laugh>) It just seems to me that they are punishing people who are trying to better themselves. They wonder why there's so many who do not want to work when people can slave for 40hours a week and be worse off than being unemployed.

So bacon is a processed meat and will give you cancer - I've no idea how the Brits have existed so long! You can do anything with a bit of statistical analysis. How about: in the year 1600 when tobacco smoking was introduced to the UK the life expectancy was 35, after 400 years of smoking it's now 80 :)

That one really set of my geek senses. I spent about 6 months going through all kinds of cancer studies (for electrical stuff like power lines, mobile phones etc). None of them give you cancer, but you can't prove it, which is why they have to say there is a "small risk", and let nimbys complain every time they build a new mobile phone mast.

This explains it pretty well, and calls the IARC "confusogenic to humans", which is quite funny.

the WHO just seems to be an organisation that needs to say something every 3 months (and then say something different 5 years later) I think we have all learned that our susceptibility to cancer is genetic - if your parents got it you probably will - if your grandfather lived to 97 and was a smoker you probably won't. They state that smoking low tar cigarettes is just as bad as smoking high tar - if you've ever smoked you know that ain't so! Which brings me on to people that won't vaccinate their children against curable diseases - don't get me started!

There is one highly ridiculous thing about the final retirement of the classic V-bombers. All three were designed at roughly the same time as the American Boeing B-52, and yet despite both the Handley Page Victor and Avro Vulcan being superior aircraft [the Vickers Valiant being a cheaper quicker option], the B-52 will continue to fly until around 2050. They say nothing of the airframes and engine life because the USA will continue to maintain and renew them, no problem. Various UK governments talk about strategy and national security and half the time they leave the country wide open because they didn't put the money down at the right time, preferring, as per usual, the cheap option.

Cycling is good for you, but bad for your prostate. However, if you have had a local operation on your prostate, cycling is better than walking. How about that one then.? :)

However, what's the biggest proven killer of the over 50's.? 3 guesses...
