True but of e only plays 5-10 games this year added to 5-10 last year then it comes a point where he's just not worth keeping.

But it would mean we can manage his fitness better I.e rest him more therefore keeping him fitter for longer.

he was played a few times under Rodgers when he simply wasn't ready but the team needed him.

It's the same with Torres - we ruined him by overplaying him when he wasn't fully fit.

Then you have morons like David Fairclough questioning his attitude and putting more pressure on him to play through the pain, thus running risk of further injuries.

That's the difficulty Klopp now faces. If you sell him to a rival who manages to keep him fit he's guaranteed to haunt us over and over. If you sell him to a rival now though we'd still get good dollar and we may well be selling them a knackered racehorse #torresstyle

If we keep him and can get him fit, working hard and firing goals then we have a class goal scorer again. Keep him and he stays injured and he's a big drain on wages for absolutely no return goal wise.

I think the next 6/7 months could make or break his career and either way we will need to sign yet another striker for god knows how much. This time we need to get it right.

Can we manage his fitness? He's not being injured playing though is he, he's getting injured in training and having little tweaks here and there and we still don't know if he's actually fully recovered (or able to fully recover) from this hip opp he had.

Yet Suarez said something similar only a few months ago (not aimed at Sturridge, just general comment) that he'd played through loads of the sorts of knocks and niggles that keep certain other players in the physio room.

Plus I'm not sure how you can use the phrase "further injury" for a lad like Sturridge. Here's a lad who can get "further injuries" just from looking at a treadmill <laugh>

There are a few on here suggesting that he's being over-cautious and he should just get on with it.
Tbh, I don't think it's as simple as over-playing him. I think he's just prone to injury, full stop. He's hardly had any game time for the past year, plenty of rehabilitation - yet each time he comes back he's injured again within a few games.
I don't think it's anybody's fault, some are just more resilient than others.

This is the thing - some players are built differently. Suarez is a genetic freak who hardly got injured and when he did, he would recover quickly.

I suppose there is a fine line between what's a niggle and what is an injury. One being a niggle don't develop into something more serious.

Given his injury record, it must play on Danny's mind.

I don't think we're overplaying him - just that we were rushing him to play when he may not have been fully fit. And it was down to the fact that we were desperate to play him.

Rodgers was really poor st squad rotation - Sturridge was playing 90 mins in league cup games, which was ludicrous.

I'm not a fan of squad rotation for its own sake anyway.
I'd rather coaches managed players who need it- rest them if they believe it's necessary, not just according to some formula. Some simply don't need resting. Suarez was bouncing off the walls when he wasn't playing.
It's easy to say with hindsight that an injured player shouldn't have been played in this game or that, but it's only when a pattern emerges that you can start to predict injuries.

...but if you only play Sturridge when fully fit he still never plays anyway so catch 22.......in fairness to Rodgers he's the manager and if he decides Sturridge is required to play a 90 minute game of football then so be it. Sturridge gets an eye watering wage to play football, that's his job and if he can't cope with the odd 90 minute league cup game he really shouldn't be at a top club getting a top, top wage.

I used to look at Torres and think "there's a lad who's being asked to play too often and do too much". I can't say I've ever looked at Studge and thought "now here's a kid who's playing too much footy" <laugh>

Who would but Studge? Can't imagine we'd get much for him. Fantastic striker but everyone knows he is always injured .

If he went for a medical somewhere he might start the medical fit but he would be injured before it finished.

    Well... Our defense was ****.

Sturridge still does the magic when he is fit.

He's vulnerable to injuries whether pressing or not.

  18. I'd sell Studge without a seconds thought of we got a decent offer. I'd always look to shift a injury prone player

I think I might be the only one with this view but I don't think Daniel wants to miss games.
I'm gutted it's gone the way it has, he is fantastic player when fit.

  20. I recall having many similar discussions about Agger. I said sell every time. I'd rather have a 6/10 or 7/10 player that is fit every week than a 8/10 or 9/10 player we can only use every now and then.
