i actually think he could still do a good job for a few teams in division 4. in fact, although he didnt really do anything wrong last night against a good Sunday League attack, I am sure that Greavesy could do as good a job as Macca did!
He was playing for Brian little at Gainsborough wasn't he ? They had quite a good side Luke Beckett up front and a couple of other players that I thought weredecent in the lower leagues.
I'm not surprised Cairney looked good. I wasn't there but i'm guessing he played like a quarter-back, sat relatively deep spraying the ball all over the pitch and getting forward every now and then. That's what he's undoubtedly good at but it's a lot harder doing that in the NPC than it is against Ferriby (and the PL imo).
Yep that's pretty much what he did. Shame he doesn't seem to be able to do it in the championship, doesn't get enough time on the ball. Would like to see him given more of a chance next season but he's got to earn it
He'll never be given the time to play like that in the NPC. He's got to adapt his game slightly and more importantly, put a shift in and attempt a tackle every now and then. I know i'm being a bit negative about him, i do think he's a quality player and he's got a massive future but he's got a few areas to work on and playing at this level last season really exposed them.
Agree, technically you won't get a much better player in this league. He just needs to put a bit more in and develop the physical side of his game. He could be a very good player if he is fully focused
i think we have to make sure that gavan hoolhan develops in the same kind of player - but much more!!!!
Quite agree with that. But its a new season and they all start afresh again. Lets give them all a chance to shine. Maybe Mckenna will help TC be that player we all know he can be. Plus i expect Koren to do alot more this time around.
looking at the 60 seconds highlights earlier cairney looks like hes bulked up a fair bit, will only help him in this league
Cairney has indeed bulked up, seen him on tigersplayer.. cross your fingers we might see a more forceful player in him this season.
Hard to say, they all looked decent but i think Cairney at times looked like a world beater, i always get false hope straight after the Ferriby game. However the key for me was how many decent enough youngsters we have coming through, even if they do not make it with us hopefully they can elsewhere and make us a bit of money!
His only league games were on loan at Bradford and he scored two in six games, not bad in a poor team and he's still only 21 so he still might picked up by a league club.
