Of course Boro will sell out. They get to spend a day away from Middlesbrough and they get to see the City of Culture. Two birds one stone.
http://www.mfc.co.uk/news/article/2...on-card-2015-2016-riverside-fans-2289145.aspx To be fair, they haven't been ****ed over by their owners with regards to season ticket pricing.
Early team news from the Boro. Striker Christian Stuani is out for upto 5 weeks with a leg injury. They also have Leadbitter and Clayton on 4 yellow cards as of now.
Having seen how we played last night, going into the second half of the season our strength in depth could well be our ace up the sleeve once injuries and cards start to take effect for other sides.
We can't criticise other fans. Our fanbase is ****e. C'mon it's £12 a ticket on saturday & we've only sold 2,500. So bad considering we're 2nd in the league as well.
Our fanbase can be brilliant. We have a really good core of fans but it's only a few thousand and we have thousands more who are much less, well, fanatical. We were getting tiny gates only 15 years ago so we only have a small number who've been going for any length of time.
We aint ever going to have a big away following/fanbase. Places like Sunderland.Boro etc dont have 2 Rugby teams drawing 20,000 fans between them They have more fans that are attached to their clubs than we do. We still have more people supporting other Prem clubs than they do. I remember swanny saying that when you go to Burnley they nearly all support their local team. I thought that this would have changed when we 1st got promoted to the Prem. Sadly it hasn't And it cant all be blamed on the Allams.
Lets blame whoever does the marketing for the club. After the move to the KC we managed to attract big crowds for lower league games so the potential is there. After getting promoted there was an opportunity to really go out and build some bridges with the local community. Instead we got, no city center victory parade, increased prices, moving fans at short notice, the Airco arena, only opening the gates to the ground a short time before kick off when we should entice them to come hours before and spend money, few incentives to get kids to turn up even when there are empty seats, advertising the club is piss poor ( take a look at FC to see what could be done)
