Oh I saw the Senna/ Prost thing myself when I followed the sport. Yeah, they forced each other off the track, but they never got properly dangerous.

Anyway, that aside, I've seen that type of incident on around half a dozen occasions over the years. There's no doubt Rossi was angry with Marquez because of the aggressive riding Marc was getting into. Marquez gets really aggressive when the chips are down. Having looked at what Rossi said on Thursday, I have to accept that his head was in the place it was. He had begun to feel conspired against.

As to the race, I noticed on a couple of occasions Rossi waving forward to Marquez, saying come on. There's not much visible communication riders can give to each other, but if the wave was consistent with tradition, it means let's stop fighting and get after those in front. Marquez chose to ignore those invitations. Not everyone does accept the invitation to ride sensibly and fast, so Marc was not doing anything extraordinary by not accepting. On the incident itself, as mentioned, I've seen them before, and probably most recently involving Marquez in 125s, Moto2 and MotoGP. The thing is, Rossi runs wide and is definitely looking for Marquez, Marc runs into Vale's left side and the bikes become entangled. Now there's a few important points to make. 1] The levers on bikes are covered by a bar which snaps off or bends so as to protect the lever and the rider's hand. It doesn't stop the levers getting caught though. 2] There is no amount of pushing or flicking of a knee which will instantly make a racing bike drop to the floor - it just won't happen, because the racing bike has so much gyroscopic force. It might wobble away and fall eventually, but not instantly go down like Marquez did. Believe me, you push a bike doing around 100mph, even when lent over, with your knee and it will only move offline, not fall down. And MotoGP bikes are incredibly stable.

So that leads me to think that Rossi was angry at the moment of the incident and Marquez was incredibly fired up and probably angry too. Rossi went wide [they all do it, so that's not really a big deal] and Marquez rode very close to him [as he has done many times in the past] and started to become entangled. Rossi tried to fend him off with the knee but Marquez wasn't quite there because his front brake lever had been applied with being entangled with Rossi's bike, and without any resistance from Marc's Honda, Rossi's leg popped out.

A MotoGP bike's brakes are phenomenal, especially the front one. Too big a squeeze with two fingers and it will put you over the top or down instantly. Loris Capirossi had exactly that happen to him in 2006 when his bike became entangled and it just stopped dead and flipped end over, catapulting him up the track.

When I saw the incident first time my heart died just a little bit. I'm a fan of Marquez but Rossi goes beyond that. For me, he's the undisputed GOAT and the best thing ever to happen in motorsport on any amount of wheels. Everybody, bar a few bitter souls, adores him and he deserves every bit of the adoration. Even F1 drivers adore him, especially Hamilton. I don't think he did it deliberately, and the video evidence actually confirms that if one understands what a bike can and cannot do. Marc definitely becomes entangled and the front brake is applied. Rossi fends off a bike which isn't quite there and it makes not a jot of difference. Marquez front wheel slides away under braking.

A 50/50 incident.? I'm still not quite 100% sure, but I'm leaning that way. I don't like Vale's look back, when he should be looking forward, and I don't like Marquez's over-aggressive riding into him. If Thursday hadn't happened I'd have called it a 100% racing incident. But Thursday did.

Seems a fair call TSS. I don't love Vale any less as a result, trust me! He's, as you say, the greatest and with the character to boot.

I have to be totally impartial, otherwise what is the point of trying to make a fair assessment.? I also have to assess the history of both riders. As mentioned, I'm a fan of Marc, but Vale has far too much love from me stacked up in his favour for me to think badly of him for any length of time. :)

Osborne needs to remember that it is because we have had a two tier democratic system that we haven't been subject to corruption and misrule, this is not a republican dictatorship or an authoritarian Communist government. He needs to rethink his policy and make it fairer for everyone.

No, it's Nemone standing in for Shaun Keaveny on the Breakfast Show.

I'll bung the iPlayer link up when it's done!

So an unelected person will tell an unelected chamber what they can and cannot do?

He's a citizen of Great Britain. He's entitled to want her [Majesty not Highness, by the way] to stir herself. What's the point of her otherwise.? I can open a hospital or cut the tape on a new road.

Great isn't it. When the government pushes through something they say they wouldn't do. Then yeah they should be stopped.

I was not asking whats the point in her getting involved. I was asking why he wants her involved.
