It occurred to me yesterday while watching the race that Dr. Marko deserves credit for picking drivers with the potential to be special; on the other hand, Horner is a sly douche. Incidentally, does anyone know what Marko is a doctor of?
I think it's just a faintly sinister title to make him seem a little scarier, like Dr No or Dr Robotnik.
Though the cost of an engine was only £20m. Anyway, seems you have the same issues with entitlement as Red Bull does. Merc and Ferrari have no obligation to supply Red Bulk with engines, end of. Perhaps if RBR spent more time working with Renault to help develop the engines, rather than chastising them all the time they wouldn't be in this mess.
RBR have spent plenty of time and money working with Renault and Illien to try and help them. Renault's failure to make use of that is what has lead to the breakdown in relationship. If this was a brake supplier, you wouldn't expect them to put up with 2 years of incompetence, there's no rational reason to suggest they should continue with Renault.
I think they're perfectly entitled to refuse to continue paying someone who isn't doing a proper job, the only people who continue to pay someone for doing a bad job are the government, anyone else who does it end up bankrupt. But don't let sense and reason cloud your judgment.
To be pedantic don't Renault technically pay Red Bull? What with infinity branding etc. I can see why Red Bull are unhappy with their PU but they've hardly executed their response in a manner that will endear them to people.
The employees etc should stay, Horner should go. Just a shame the VAG will not be able to take over now.
This is the problem when there is such an imbalance in the teams. Those with all the money hold the power and can hold the sport over a barrel, those without barely have a voice. Horner and co should step back a little and take a look at some of the other teams in the paddock and put themselves in their position. Maybe they'd realize how good they have actually it. It's sad that they have become so entitled in such a short space of time. Vettel did absolutely the right thing walking away. They've been slagging their builder off for years, even when everyone else thought he was doing a good job as part of a team effort. Surely they're the stupid ones for continuing with him for so long if we are to go by your analogy?
Nonsense, Renault complained that they weren't getting enough credit for their part in 2009-14 success, but not that RedBull were bad mouthing them. Anyhow Renault have only been terrible since the hybrid era. RedBull were apparently quick to point the finger, but the evidence since then suggests they were right. I think the conclusion of this discussion is a surprisingly large number of people would be happy to watch 15 others trailing round after Hamilton and the Merc patsy, rather than see any competition at the front.
Really, I'd go back and have a look at those years if I were you and see what Red Bull were saying about their Renault engines. They did not hesitate in ensuring everyone knew when something was Renault's fault, be it reliability, power etc etc.
