Well, Shearer thinks it was a penalty. It was a nailed on penalty.

What I want to know is how you lot are swallowing McClaren's diversion tactics in the media since the game on this one? What's his win ratio? 9% including the cup? It pisses me off when Sunderland players talk about ifs and buts. They just need to shut up and win a game. If I was a Mag I'd be doing my nut listening to the comments from the likes of Janmaat, talking the team up to be great after they lost. Well you better win the next one and make sure you don't get humped by Bournemouth, ey, Daryl. Genuinely interested on your opinion on hollow words from the players.

You lads have nothing to worry about, you'll be fine.

What will happen if we win at the Sport's Direct Arena in March I've no idea. Apparently getting humped 13-1 over the last six games has filled you with total and utter conviction that you're going to murder us next time. All the chat from McClaren and Janmaat is ramping up the pressure on the next one. If McClaren is still in charge by March he better win is all I can say. Did his smug gurning through the press conference after the game not make you embarrassed? He lost the bloody game! If you lose on Saturday what's the bets McClaren says it's a derby hangover from the injustice?.............anything to divert.

Great words from our manager and we will beat you 13-0 to take the lead in March.
    Mitro to score 5.

By the way, you'll win again the the future for sure at some point, but never ever ever again will you attempt to score five goals against us.

His win percentage is 16% including the cups (2 wins from 12 games) but that is besides the point at the minute. I am genuinely encouraged by the way we are trying to play football. Still loads of issues to sort out - most of all in defence (which will hopefully begin to be resolved in January) and in converting chances to goals (which I think will come with time as our two young forwards settle and get more used to each other).

    That's the spirit.
We should aim for 10 goals.
    5 in each half.

Defence for both of us. I think Mitrovic will maybe come good in the last couple of months of the season and be a good long-term player for you because he's too much of a liability for the big boys to poach. Wijnaldum, good player but will you be able to keep hold of him beyond this season? He'll be a difficult one to keep with Ashley's tendencies to sell the crown jewels. Sissoko is a great player in my opinion but it was disgraceful the way he tried to whore himself to Arsenal in the summer. He couldn't give a stuff about Newcastle or the North East. Both our clubs are full of players who think they are doing us a favour by slumming it in the north till they get their dream London move. Sissoko is a twat. Great player, but a twat. Janmaat is your other good one, but no offence I think he is destined for bigger things (I'd very much say the same if he was with us). In summary I think you could have a good team, but I think your better players, apart from Mitrovic, are set to leave. The likes of Wijnaldum and Janmaat aren't going to stick around if you finish bottom six.

Pavlovian conditioning means that if the players ever score four in a derby again they'll just sit down next to the corner flag and start rocking back and forth.

A lot of valid points in there. It's a problem for both teams - particularly us it seems - that we sell our best players when a good offer comes along. The upside is that we usually get huge fees for them when we do, but re-investing is always a risk. It's a vicious circle though. Players will always want to use us as a stepping stone and want to leave if they see us selling our best players. On the other hand it is almost impossible to keep your best players once they are lured by the bright lights and decide they want to leave.

You never know, Wijnaldum seems like he genuinely has proper ethics and could stay if he really links well with the fans............Ashley doesn't have ethics though £20-25m and he'd be gone.

It's true, I think Lens will be outrageously good when he gets into the swing of things with a consistent manager. So, I'm almost a little pleased that he seems out of sorts because if he had a blinder all season he'd be gone for sure. Fletcher is another one. I remember when he first came, before he got injured for Scotland and was out for months he had a conversion ratio greater than 50%. Conversion ratio is what it is all about if you are in a poor team. He comes back and can't be arsed.......what happens now in the last season of his contract? He puts his try hard pants on for a new contract or to leave on a bumper free contract with someone else. No respect for the club. I wish every player could have the attitude of the likes of Arca and Giaccherini. Just pros who came here, respected the region and tried their hardest.

To be honest, I don't think our clubs are that unique in being used as stepping stones for middle/lower-middle of the table teams (if we can end up there and not down the bottom which becomes a separate issue). Lots of players move on to bigger things as soon as better offers come in. Where it is compounded for us both is in attracting enough new players. Our two teams are exremely isolated geographically and I think it does make a difference. Not so much from the quality of the area as everywhere has nice areas and ****holes. There might be something to it in terms of girlfriends and wives wanting more glamarous places to be based, but nothing that can't be overcome. Where we suffer is that the sort of teams we are competing with in terms of the packages we offer (West Ham, Everton, Stoke, etc) are all close to clusters of clubs so that players, particularly overseas players, can be close to a much larger group of players they know regardless of who they play for. Even the likes of Stoke often have their players (and manager) living in places like Wilmslow/Alderley Edge which is also home to quite a few Man United and Man City players, and part of Cheshire where I think a lot of Everton and Liverpool players live too. @Typical_Juan would be more up to date on that than me though as I think he mentioned he lives in Handforth. I think players moving to a new country especially, will take that factor into account. Even some of the lower clubs such as Watford will benefit from being close to the London teams.

It's a situation which would only get worse if one of us were relegated. That is why I'd love to see us, you and boro all established in the Premier League.

I think Gini is too good for us. Hate to say it but he is and we know our owner will sell for the right price.
Janmaat too but probably in the Summer.
