More late night rumours: 19 Jul 2011 23:48:40 Watford linked with Paul dixon, we are also looking at taking sam vokes, John bostock on loan
20 Jul 2011 03:46:25 Dutch attacking midfielder Dani l de Ridder is to sign for Watford after being released by Wigan. The 27 year old will have a medical this weekend. 20 Jul 2011 03:40:05 After the signing of Paul Dixon, Watford will sign shefki kuqi as a free agent. The 35 year old will be a back up Striker for Iwelumo and on a 12 month contract. This will done by next Friday. 20 Jul 2011 03:33:51 Jlloyed Samuel will sign for Watford after the 29 year old's trial at Leeds has ended. Leeds are not impressed as Watford are. Life must be pretty hectic down at the Vic now.
I thnk the only believable one there is Dixon, who's name keeps popping up - unless it is the same person suggesting it... or others copying! I'd suggest De Ridder would be out of our wage structure, Kuqi not the sort of playing we'd be looking at and Samuel a 'maybe'. Hopefully signing a bit of a 'name' in Iwelumo, people will look at us now and think there is ambition here, rather than just a selling club!!
SD seems to be looking to get additional experience to the side judging by his comments here. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2396680,00.html
And here is some more, I don't know we make a move in the transfer market and it seems we are interested in everyone 20 Jul 2011 09:25:33 Southampton to unveil Marvin Sordell signed from Watford on Friday if he passes medical. Fee in the region of 3.5m raising to 5m on appearances and promotion. Watford looking to sign kuqi (free), weimann (permanent signing 1m) as Dyche looks to emulate Graham Taylor by playing with wingers and bigger target men. Sam Vokes deal is/was back up plan to announce if or weimann don't pan out
If Sordell is going, I don't think he would have played last night. I would have thought we'd be looking at other combinations... so really am hoping that is complete and utter nonsense! I'd be happy if the Weimann rumour was true, although I think I'd prefer a loan until January then an option to buy at a set price then, if he does well!
i don't think loans til January are helpful...something snaps when we lose the loanees, and we take a tumble..
I didn't mean to lose him... I meant to make it a season long loan, but with the option to buy in January! £1m is a lot of money for someone who we don't know will fit into the team for sure.... We should know by January if we definitely want him or not on a permanent basis! Sorry, didn't word it properly
I'm just wary of us paying that sort of price for someone! I doubt the rumour is true, but it wouldn't surprise me if SD is interested in bringing him back, be it on loan or permanent - but they did say 2 strikers permanent, so is there room for a 5th on loan? I guess the price depends on how much Villa value him - monetary and a prospect for the future! At £1m he would have to be a starter... so who would be the 4th choice striker?!?
my guess is that it would be Deeney, who could move back a bit to central midfield if we needed him to. But so far we've only brought in one striker, so perhaps Weimann is the second?
