Of course it isn't, it's the sentiment of being happy to rest players, field a weakened side, and not be too bothered about the result, all for the sake of 3 points on the weekend. As we will most likely play a weakened side tomorrow, if we don't take 3 points on the weekend will there be similar outrage to the result at Villa last year?
It's a little ironic that the weakened side we're talking about is likely to include the likes of Dawson, Huddlestone, Diame, Maloney and Robertson (possibly even Akpom and Herrnandez up front). I think the team we're putting out is decent and will be along the lines of what everyone is expecting and as a consequence, I don't think there'll be any outrage whatever the result at MK Dons.
I certainly hope it includes Dawson. If it's Dawson and Maguire at CB then I have a lot less issue with it. McGregor in goal would be optimal but I can understand if Jak gets the nod in order to give him some game time. I don't want Hernandez out of fear of injury given the amount of games he's played lately, but if he started I'd also be quite happy. It is quite remarkable that Diame, Maloney and Huddlestone can be considered players who are being rotated in as a second string midfield at the moment on form!
The only result I want to avoid tonight is a heavy defeat so we can maintain the confidence the team has built up. The focus has to be on the league this season. A long cup run is prestigious but in reality it only means more games and more chance of injury and fatigue.
Mac Dave Daws Maguire Robbo Elmo Hudd Diame Maloney Chubs Luer Get straight at, & stick it up, 'em. 3-0
If Huddlestone plays we'll lose, that's my only prediction. He plays with absolutely no sense of urgency, the Leicester second X1 will muller us if he plays, and for this reason I'm out!
There's a lot of players in that Leicester second XI, that ACKJ put up, i'd like to have in our first team. Very tough tonight, even without Vardy in their team. They're going well in the premier league. It's no fluke where they are in that league. They'll be better than Swansea, and we were somewhat fortunate in that match, in the last round. Diame & Huddlestone better be up for it tonight. Otherwise they can stay on the bench. I'll stick to my prediction 1-0 hcafc
To be honest, we'll be rotating in better players than have started the last two games. Maguire > Bruce, Huddlestone > Meyler. Diame > Livermore, Maloney > Clucas. Only real concerns are Taylor and Jakupovic getting a run out but it should be a breeze. 4-1 city.
Tonight is all about Inler and Kramaric (or Okazaki if he starts). All have tremendous ability and have shown it in patches for us but tonight needs to be their opportunity to prove it. Interesting to see how Chilwell performs. With Schlupp suspended we think he'll play.
I never was any good at them Roman numeral thingamajigs, **** it, I'm going anyway, hoping to see Luer play.
Nothing to do with Bruce playing a weakened side. Lokeren was lost due to a McGregor howler. Worse than Wolves this season. Harper should have had that game in Lokeren and we would have made the group stages. History now sadly.
this is 'scapegoat mentality' and in a match there will be glaring misses, bad selections, bad passes, bad marking, slip ups, lack of concentration, a poor ref's decision..
It had everything to do with playing a weakened side, Lokeren was lost because we were absolute garbage, the McGregor howler obviously didn't help, but if we weren't playing with a second string team, we should have been able to turn it round. Figgy and Sagbo ffs...
We drew 1-1 at Wolves - do you think for a second we'd have got a point there if we'd fielded a B team AND the keeper had chucked one in? The fact that McGregor made an error against Lokeren doesn't give you crystal-ball powers to say how a full-strength team would have done that night.
