I'm sure he's thinking about the second promotion and not the first which he wasn't involved with. Because the first was at Wembley like the cup final but resulted in a win not a defeat.
Yep, precisely what I brought up just before now. I understand the sentiment that we play in the League Cup every year, but in our 111 year history we've never made it to the Quarter Finals. Who knows, Stoke or Sheffield Wednesday, or whoever, may knock out one of the big boys, and give us a chance to make it to the Semis, or we could do it ourselves. Confidence from winning is never a bad thing.
Wish I could make it tonight although I bet if I did it would just be a tedious bore fest like most cup games. For what it's worth I think we should and will win this quite comfortably.
I've just looked at the draw, I've not paid much attention to this Cup. Kinell, there's going to have to be a few upsets and a lot of luck with the draw to go much past this round.
We beat Swansea on the 22nd September. Its a ****ty cynical move to do this. It could have been changed, Pearson isnt that busy. Any other teams local radio would be doing a football special, building it up. If this was Scunny playing Leicester I'd fully expect and support a Sportstalk programme building it up and promoting the game.
Yet a couple of days after the end of the football season and rugby fans are ringing and texting in complaining about any mention of football. Even when a World Cup or the Euros are on. It is supposed to be Sportstalk, yet there was little mention of the Union World Cup which has had crowds and viewing figures league can only dream about. Though there was mention of cricket, rugby league and a presenter waffling on about his great love of American Football. It seems the likes and prejudices of presenters dictate the content and guests not the popularity and interest in teams or sports.
IMO Scunny and Grimsby get too much coverage based on their attendances. Scunny last 3 home matches had 3,000 average attendance Grimsby had 4,200 average
I'm not sure what you're talking about, pretty much the entire show last night was dedicated to football, almost all of it about City (and that kid falling asleep at Barnsley)... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0350ljp#play
Found an old set of uncracked glowsticks from my rave days the other day might take them along and throw a few shapes. Fancy Big Tom to get on the scoresheet tonight, ideal game for him to showcase his talents before a January move. Don't think Bruce is tactically brave enough to play him at the back or as a sweeper though
I find it quite annoying that Ferriby don't get enough coverage. I know they're only in the Conference North, but if they can cover the FA Cup games then they should at least cover the away games. Plus it makes me smile to think of Gwylim being sent to places like Brackley, Boston and Fylde.
I've heard a few pundits today tipping us, almost tempted to have a bet on us except I know how that will end probably! Fancy Huddlestone and Diame to score so will have a look at that
That's Louie Donowa, Dave Watson and John Deehan in the back row with Bruce and Woods. Asa Hartford holding the cup? Mick Channon next to him looking knackered. Mark Barham front left, I think. And I'm done.
Not got any problem with the coverage city get on Humberside, just find it strange that in the run up to an important fixture like tonight we get an Hull f.c. phone in.
Sorry, I just realised you're talking about tonight's Sportstalk, I was confused by your post as I thought you were talking about last nights show.
