... you couldn't afford him Real Madrid and Vardy link Football gossip Posted at09:12 please log in to view this image Getty Images Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri believes "not many clubs" have enough money to buy the Premier League's leading scorer Jamie Vardy, 28, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Leicester Mercury quotes Ranieri as saying: "If Real Madrid or some big names want to buy him, they have the money to buy him. But not many teams can buy him now."
We've heard it all before "Benteke is going nowhere in the summer, no one can afford him,” Read more at http://talksport.com/football/chris...n-villa-says-tim-sherwood#Q2jAKStRCdMGx8xy.99
For £15m, Leicester should snap their hands off. But cannot sell in January at the risk of destabilising the team.
... would that be the same Tim Sherwood who was recently bleating about having to sell Benteke and Delph etc? ... and there my friend is the difference ... Dim Tim must have been the only person in the midlands not aware of Randy Lerner's intentions to cease investment and want out at the earliest opportunity ... any incoming players were only ever going to be acquired from monies generated on transfers out ... In contrast, our owners have publicly stated their intent to push for Champions League as part of a 5 year plan and that they are prepared to invest £180m to acheive it ... now that could be complete pie in the sky in terms of being possible - but so far we have been building without selling anything that wasn't surplus to requirements - we even managed to get £4m for David Nugent - baffling but true This is the first time in all my years supporting the club that I've felt that we wouldn't sell our better players as soon as bigger clubs came calling ... it's a nice feeling Whatever Vardy's real worth in today's football market, he is absolutely priceless for us right now - because if his goals keep us up this season then the monies we will earn from the upcoming TV deals will far exceed any transfer fee we might get ... simples.
agree your last point - but see post above ... he's worth 5 times that to us this season (if not more) ... ... and just remind me, how much did you pay for Andy Carroll again?
Have it in my head that it might have been as much as £30m ... might only have been £20m mind ... but still
I didn't say that I was ... all I've done is reported our owners statement of their ambition for the club ... so far they have been excellent - written off our debts (debt-equity swap) bought back the stadium and put it into club hands .. and are continually breaking our club transfer record ... how have Everton been going on that front with Uncle Bill out of interest Now the TV deal for 2016-2019 is said to be worth circa £4.4bn ... so selling the league (and Englands) top goal scorer on the cheap when they don't need to sell at all is both completely contrary to the direction in which we appear to be moving and would also be shooting our survival chances in the foot somewhat ... s Survival is therefore paramount and I don't therefore see us selling Jamie Vardy for anything but very silly money ... but let's face it, silly money isn't completely out of the question ... £30m for John Stones ffs ...
I was only having a laugh with the Benteke comparison tbh I don't know anything about Leicester- the last time I had any interest, Worthington was playing for you [absolutely no disrespect intended] So I can't comment on much about your club, but I'm with you on Vardy being priceless to you. He needs to stay where he's loved and not mess it all up by moving and risking not being able to replicate for another team and alienating a fan base who adore him
