http://www.skysports.com/football/n...e-austin-will-stay-with-qpr-until-next-summer Got to say in my opinion the lad has his head screwed on and/or has good advisors With Fat Sam being the person who is saying he will move heaven and hell to get Charlie. I too would decide to stay, get fit again, score loads of goals, and then get a much better team than Sunderland too
Got to say in my opinion the lad has his head screwed on and/or has good advisors got a good agent who will get him a massive signing on fee more like no such thing as loyalty in todays game if it ever existed at all me me me
If you have got lots of nope, you would be best keeping quiet about it, because when people find out what it is they may well realize its value and try to take it from you
I love Charlie and great that he is staying! Just hope we can capitalise and get promoted or that's a lot of cash missed out on. He's saying the right things but he's understandably doing it for himself re signing on fee. He would have gone to Newcastle in the summer and despite all that was said the only thing that stopped him was rangers playing hardball which was great. Newcastle wanted to pay the fee in instalments and we wouldn't budge, that's how close it got! Now get fit and get scoring again!
Hmm. What if Arsenal, Utd, City, Spurs come in for him in January? Unikely but possible. He's going to say no, and bank on them coming back in the summer? Best way he can show his 'loyalty' is allowing the club to sell him at the maximum possible fee, especially if we are a long way off the play off places.
Arguably, we should have cashed in on him last summer. I don't know whether he didn't go because TF wanted to go sh1t or bust for promotion, or whether the clubs that came in for Charlie didn't impress him Anyway, we are where we are, and it appears to be sh1t or bust. If we're not promoted, we've lost out on circa £15m
Perhaps I'm gullible but I think there is an element of genuine loyalty in Charlie's attitude. In an earlier interview, he said that he regretted leaving one of his earlier clubs when he did (i.e. prematurely) and wouldn't be making the same mistake again. Of course, he stands to get a large signing on fee in the Summer which probably helps him in his decision-making but it will be good to have him at Loftus Road. If we do well this season, who knows, we may be the club paying him that signing on fee and keeping him for a further 3-4 years.
Don't blame him at all But if he wants to come across as the loyal player and wants us to all love him then sign a new contract with a low buy out clause We get some cash and he gets some massive wages at his new club
Let's face it, it's a bit of both. I believe Charlie quite likes the place however he can have his choice at the end of the season. I think his concern with leaving this summer was a lot of the teams that were 'showing an interest' were probable relegation fodder and although I consider his summer transfer fee wasn't excessive who wants to leave, sign a 3-4 year contract, to be back in the championship come the end of the year. Everyone loves a bargain and people seem to ignore signing on fees and other related costs when picking up a free agent so a few more teams might be slightly more interested, fair play to him and I hope he gets the established Premier league team that he deserves.
Not many loyal players around Nope or Hope We are putting a lot of faith in but my point is players come and go How the fans handle that IMO is a mark of what I call a football fan The great thing to consider is that Austin may not even get into our next team within two seasons Or we may relegated into League one and have to buy players from what is left We just know and that's the best way IMO
Totally agree on the lack of loyalty in football. The only thing I would say in Charlie's defence is it's worth remembering he hasn't come from a big clubs academy, so he won't have had hot air blown up his arse from a young age. Also the fact he knows what it's like to graft in the real world may give him a much different outlook on things. Not that I think it will be enough to make him stay if a big club comes calling.
