    With Long, Jay Rod & Mane all out. We only have Pelle, Tadic, Gaston & Juanmi as fit attacking players. So reasonable to expect a couple of youngsters to be making the bench.

    There will be no surprises on Wednesday regarding the involvement of any youngsters, take a look at the U21 team on You Tube playing at the moment
    RK will put out his strongest team available

    We're not going into a match with just Juanmi as an attacking sub.

    Seager off for the U21s. Commentators think he could potentially be involved Wed.

    With only one first team striker available it will between Juanmi or Gaston to replace Mane, personally I would let Gaston have a go in a No 10 role
    Other than that, same team again to make sure we progress

    Gaston destroyed Villa once.............maybe he can do it again. Seriously though, his best game by a mile.

    Seems to be a fair few people would rather see Gaston starting than JWP. Absolute madness. For so may reasons.

    Head = JWP
    Heart = Gaston

    We're just typical footy fans who like a touch of romance in our lives.

    Though to be fair a fit Gaston may offer a little more goal threat than JWP.

    Even if Gaston has one or two good games, before long it will be the same old story. He is not a long term solution. JWP is the local boy coming good. He's the future, and represents everything this club is about. Yet when he has one quiet game people slate him. Ramirez has five good minutes and peeps starting wetting themselves. I don't get it.

    And with VVD playing, Prowsey's deliveries are our biggest goal threat. Gaston's free kicks used to be utter ****.

    Replacing Mane with JWP doesn't maintain any goal threat unfortunately. It gives us much better dead ball delivery but means our only open play goal threat would be Pelle.
    At least Gaston does provide some sort of goal threat

    Both of them. Gaston deserves a chance to impress. They play in different positions.

    Indeed, we need a more attacking player with Pelle and Tadic.

    Taking Sunday's team, think it's a straight choice between either Juanmi or Gaston to take Manes place.
    Think Romeu will replace Vic and JWP for Davis.
    Yoshida will come in, but could be a right back or centre back.
    Potentially Targett as well.

    Saw a Villa article the other day that described us as having a poor start but developing a solid mid table mentality without being inspiring. Said Villa were quite capable of disposing of us and should.

    Fans don't seem to share that view and whilst they will be down here in their numbers they are not expecting much from the game - only a bit of luck.

    It's a potential banana skin and anything but a win could damage our confidence so I hope we go at them early and kill the game off asap. The absence of Mane is really bad timing soa lot of pressure on Tadic and Gaston to step up. I think we have to see one of the attacking youngsters on the bench. Just a shame Gallagher and Isgrove both on loan.

    Agree....we may play Gaston if needs must and I'd be pleased if he did well (for us and him), but one swallow doesn't make a summer. JWP is finding his place in the team and is the future....he has to be first choice.

    Whilst Villa has a chance on the basis that any PL team can beat any other (on its day), the author of the Villa piece can't have seen us play. Saints have great players who haven't quite hit their straps all at the same time....we haven't scraped into 8th...we have underachieved. By Christmas I'm expecting/hoping that we have opened a gap between us and the rest of midtable and we can push on in the New Year. We have had exciting teams in the last few years and this looks like being the best.

    We really want this, Villa don't, that gives me a bad feeling. This will not be a walk in the park.

    No way will Ron make that many changes. One win from the QF.
    I think he'll play:

    Stekkers
    Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand
    Romeu, Clasie
    Tadic, Gaston, JWP
    Pelle
