You wouldnt be pleased if we won the Championship, FA Cup and league cup this season, Premier League next season and then the Champions League the season after? Tough crowd.
Not playing like you suggested. I like to be entertained in some way, even if it results in more losses than wins. If we won like that, I wouldn't watch us at all.
Each to their own. I'd like us to win every game possible. Does anyone remember the season under Stan Ternent when, certainly for much of the campaign if not the whole season, we'd outscored the team at the top of the league? We were still relegated.
Doesnt this all just fit in with your narcissistic personality though? I can take some dour 1 nils and understand we cant play brilliant every match without screeching for Brucey's head but its a game and you want to see excitement and goals.
The more entertaining the football, the more people that attend, for that reason alone clubs should always try and play entertaining football.
I really dont understand why you think that. Every single manager and player would take winning every single game 1-0 that they were ever involved with.
But we aren't managers and players. We're fans. People who pay to watch these managers and players perform at their very best. People who pay good money and in return want to see good football, not dour ****e, regardless of result.
Would I rather see us lose every week over winning every week? Obviously not, but question isn't exactly fair, is it? I didn't even suggest such a thing in the first place. Here's a better question: Would you rather us win 1-0 every week or 4-3? Following on from that, would you rather us lose 1-0 every week or 4-3?
How is it a better question? it's exactly the same - for I didnt suggest that either. I said Id be happy for us to win every single game 1-0 and be boring and you said I must be easily pleased.
Performance is irrelevant if you win. Unless you are on of the new breed of fans who sit there demanding to be entertained. To me a scruffy 1-0 win through a last minute own goal sends me home happier than a stirring, valiant 5-4 defeat.
It might send you home happier, but within a few weeks you'll have forgotten all about it. Losing 4-3 at Man United away, or 3-2 to Sheffield United away are examples of some of the games that will live on in the memory forever. At the end of the day it's a results business and everyone wants to win, but I'd far win in style, even at the risk of losing. You get the same points for one win as you do for three draws and you lose no points when you lose, all of things should encourage attacking football.
Newcastle were well and truly shafted by ref. Madley but Hopefully the FA will overturn the red card at least. However the Toon had enough of the play and chances to have won the game anyway. Sunderland got lucky on the day but still look well short of being what they need to be.
Winning 1-0 at Coventry in 1973 in the FA Cup after beating West Ham are better memories than defeats no matter how high scoring.
