Main question is what Fran thinks about Jose's new haircut?

Yeah was thinking that. How times have changed when we go to Anfield expecting a result and being disappointed in a draw.

Love Koeman's comment, "We need to win against these sort of teams".

That was an excellent decision particularly because he was 5 yards behind play <laugh>

I guess my response was too subtle, these incidents really did happen, you need to see the whole ninety minutes to find them!

Fair play to our travelling fans for the "only last 60 minutes" chant as Twatbeard was taken off.

Not read the thread yet as sat in bar in Poole, just about to go all whisky.

Pretty good performance; although should be beating **** teams like that though. Draw ok.

MoTD2 opinion was that Marriner was churlish to send Mane off!

I would give him a 7, I guess. Decent enough game, but did not wow, mostly due to circumstances outside his control. Did a lot of the dirty work that tends to end up unnoticed.

He was asked to sit back and shield the back four, and that is what he did. 4 tackles, 4 interceptions.

Hopefully next game he'll get to show off his attributes with the ball.

We've played a lot better in certain areas of the park, but they all put in a shift. Poor young Cedric looked a wreck from last week, but no matter, Saints deservedly got something, and Cedric played well despite that swollen face. I liked the spirit of the Lads, and I thought Mane got his second yellow simply for being too committed when he didn't need to be. With Stekelenburg back the defensive confidence returned. Nobody was keeping out Benteke's excellent goal, but apart from that Saints were sound.
One of the best things was that Liverpool looked slightly pleased in their post-match interviews and the Lads looked disappointed. They expect better of themselves and that's great. It was so noticeable even MOTD2 highlighted it while I was grinning from ear to ear about it. Liverpool have joined the list of teams we should be beating.

And the Twatcheeks song from the Saints fans, after he was subbed, was loud and funny [LTL]. Last 60 minutes..! He only lasts 60 minutes..! <laugh>

    Quick review:

As the first half went on, we started to realise that Liverpool were **** and we gradually took control. Sadly, we weren't quite cutting enough in the final third because they were there for he taking. My only concern in the first half was that too often Courtinho found himself in space receiving the ball, goal side of Vic and Clasie; I'll put that down to a new partnership.

Start of the second half they came out a little more stoked up and pinned us back but again we gradually worked our way back in top. The goal came a little out of the blue, but it was an excellent cross and one of those headers that you just can't aim there, you dream of them landing in that spot. we deserved the goal, however overall I am slightly disappointed we didn't win. This isn't because I felt we deserved it but more because I thought they were awful and there to be had. No-one was particularly off their game and no-one really outstanding, though VvD was strong most the game, Bertie good, Vic good first half especially, Mane a threat, Gaston great cameo, Pelle held it up pretty well when he want being bashed in the back and Claise did a good job.

Who'd have thought. Draw at Anfield with a tinge of disappointment?

Good summation FLT - thought the game was there for the taking and would happily have taken a point before the game but ended up feeling we could have won that game - so am too a little disappointed.

You are right, FLT, in that they were there for the beating. The body language at the end was interesting. As the whistle blew Gaston had his hands on his head clearly frustrated. Luckily his mate Nathaniel went and gave him a hug! The players weren't charging over to the fans like they'd just got a good result, but were clearly disappointed. We knew how they felt.

On the positive side we'd stopped the rot after 3 defeats against these buggers. Gaston had been effective, and best of all no-one's head dropped after a late goal.

Ron said he was pleased about the palpable disappointment in the dressing room...they knew they could play better.

Ronald Koeman is a winner. Of all the managers we have had, he is the biggest wining attitude. He won everything as a player and despite his honest, open and approachable look in interviews, he is a steely character who wants to win and is used to being a winner.

We've had managers like Pardew who talked about installing a winning attitude, and although that was correct it always felt a little like it was from a management manual. Koeman has that in buckets and spades.
