There were some glum faces in the Mercedes garage after Nico's second stop when he looked a certainty to win.

Fantastic effort smashing Rosberg back to Finland.

One of the greatest races I have ever seen. Congrats Lewis I nearly shed a tear with you.

All I can say is that probably harks back to their karting days. Nico was never going to challenge, it was physically and politically wrong for Mercedes.
What an amazing race, one of the greatest I have seen. Well done Lewis, what a drive. Lets hope Ferrari can get closer next year.

It's not a great advert for F1 but it reiterates what I have said in the past that there are fundamental problems behind the scenes - and not just because Lewis is the better driver.

Without seeing the whole clip with what lead up to it, it's hard to coment either way, but as petulant as Nico's response was there was no need to provoke him. The more I think about it the more I can't see that relationship going into next season.

    Here here <ok>

I genuinely think they can do it as well, and I think a Vettel Vs Hamilton battle would be amazing, both cut throat leave no quarters drivers

Well... though it's been a mostly dull season, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Hopefully next season will be more competitive and enjoyable.

And while we get over the bum pain of some (they make an ointment for that btw), I'd like to say... That race was proper mental! I'm still trying to get my head around it. Wow!

So it must have just suddenly sunk in. When you're battling that close you have to accept that sometimes it won't work out, it's just keeping the respect whilst also being willing to push your luck.

It is very eery, unprofessional and childish. It still doesn't sit well, mainly because I can't understand why it happened. Only that they probably reacted like that 20 years ago. But after a world-championship... weird.

Bit late for Rosberg to start showing some passion now. About 16 races too late.

I had three bum pains. Kimi retiring, Hulkenberg crashing, and the title fight ending. But the greatest race of the season is my topical cream that I have applied.

To be fair Lewis hasn't forgiven him for firstly the stunt at Monaco and then admitting puncturing his tyre to "prove a point".

Since Rosberg crossed that line in Lewis' mind it has become total war.

He was desperate to beat him last year and did which was huge for both drivers.

This year was about really showing how much better he is so he could essentially get his own back for Rosberg's naughty business.

There are times when I like Rosberg. But he is bitter and tries to be ruthless like Schu but just isn't as good and it doesn't come naturally to him.

Hamilton is a worthy champion and Rosberg needs to be careful that he doesn't get binned by Mercedes.

It would be a lot easier for them if they promoted a young guy and put all their eggs in one basket with Lewis.

Yep, shows how great F1 can be when there is actually close racing. Praying for Renault and Honda to make miraculous strides over winter and James Allison to produce a masterpiece to go with an engine to match the Merc.

Nasr may as well have stopped in the garage to watch the Manchester derby the way he was going.
