For all of Mbokani's attacking talent/threat. I do wonder if we have massively missed the shift Jerome puts in. He was missing chances but he was as good as it gets at defending from the front. In addition are we too open with two wingers and Hoolahan? I'm just hoping that Mulumbu will give us some much needed extra steel in the middle and a little more quality on the ball. If fit I'd go with; Ruddy Martin, Ryben, Bass, Brady Tettey Howson, Mulumbu, Hoolahan, Jarvis Jerome Though tempted to replace Ruddy and Martin with Rudd and Wisdom too. Bah!
What ever you may think of Hughton and I understand he did well for you guys. Things were going wrong for a very long period under him at City. The crowd steadily turned as it became more and more obvious he simply was not able to get the required performances out of the players he had. I dont know anyone close to NCFC who thought Hughton would keep us up at the end and even less who wanted him to be kept on even had we escaped. I regret his sacking because it allows ignorant muppets like you to come on and say he was hard done by. He wasn't! He should have been sacked well before then, we almost certainly would have been relegated under him. How many years will it be I wonder before you bloody geordies shut up about Hughton and us? I suspect never because you'll never do well enough for your own illusions of being a big club to be satisfied. Pardew was 10 times the manager Hughton is/was and you all royally cocked that up, so as they say people in glass houses! Every club has its idiots granted and I'm sure canary call will be chocked full of them tonight, but the majority of us still believe in Alex Neil. And can but hope that our more unreasonable fans can keep a lid on their frustrations long enough for Neil to turn it around. Bah!
Ignorant muppets? Please point to any ignorance in my post... I saw a post trying to rewrite the past and corrected it... Whereas you talk of my illusions of being a big club? You one board saddos really should find a Canary coloured forum if you want to bleet on about ignorance. I hope Alex is given time. But he won't be, because clubs like ours, run by those with limited resources or limited inclinations, are playing the rest of the league with two hands tied behind our back, with each win fuelling a delusion that just hastens demise. But like it or ****ing lump it, we're both big clubs. Very few teams out of all the football league get to play at the elite level, so stop being such a miserable one boarder and enjoy seeing your team's limited time there.
I think it's time, to do what to some is unthinkable, and try starting a game with Martin on the bench. It seems to me that most successful teams have a solid CB pairing and we are very poor in this area for a PL team. If we don't find a better CB pairing with the players we have soon or purchase well in January then I fear we will be a championship team next year. I don't know if it's a coincidence but the last 2 games we have been particularly bad defensively and we've started with Jerome on the bench. Mbokani seems good going forward, but with Jerome defending definitely starts form the front. Also Jerome holds up the ball much better which allows our midfield to sit slightly deeper. All is not lost yet, but we won't get better without improvements in our back 4. I'm starting to think we may need a new RB as well as a quality CB or 2.
According to these ratings, Jarvis was the only NCFC player to warrant more than 5 / 10! Are they being overly harsh or brutally honest? http://readnorwich.com/2015/10/25/norwich-0-1-west-brom-player-ratings/?
It was/is a generalisation. Ever since we rightly sacked the dour Hughton, Geordies have delighted in coming on here to tell us how stupid our club and us fans have been in sacking him. To say he didn't get us relegated is true in so much as he wasn't at the helm when it was made official, but there is no way he was gonna save us. I'm no one boarder, I like the input in general from other fans (even the odd binners, just don't let them know that!) But the Hughton thing is just annoying! He caused such a split in the posters on here that his meer mention still get everyone's back up. I and most hope that Neil will get time and believe that with time he will do well for us. .........and then leave! Hughton was given time and rope aplenty unfortunately he was clearly leading a painful decline. Is near 2 seasons a lot of time to build a team? no! But after a summer of prep and some serious wedge (relatively speaking!) The form and football were going down the toilet. It was the ignorance of outsiders who saw 2 minutes on MOTD who criticised that again. I genuinely think we will keep the faith with Neil and in 2 years time will be getting better and better for it. Bah!
Well said, general I've been away, so out of touch with the forum for a week but good to see it as lively / feisty as before I went
