Mexico have renamed the last corner of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez after Nigel Mansell in appreciation of this pass there on Gerhard Berger:

Unfortunately that corner doesn't exist any more as it's been deemed too challenging for 21st century F1. <rose>

Fantastic video, the way Mansell is checking his mirrors at that speed and how they avoid contact.

Marquez deliberately tries to influence the championship in favour of Lorenzo because of a personal issue with Rossi. Valentino reacts by opting to crash into him and Lorenzo behaves like a child in his interviews.

All three of MotoGP's biggest names coming together to embarrass the sport and themselves.

I saw Marquez actually headbutt Rossi's knee when leaning into the corner, thus Rossi's kick out. It's a shame the championship has already been decided with Vale starting the decider in last position.

Doubly so when it's almost certain that even if Rossi mounts a comeback to 4th, Marquez would let Lorenzo pass him. All season MotoGP has been showing up F1 with exciting racing and close title fight, what a sad way to end things.

Crazy that there isn't a rule to penalise not trying.

Theres nothing Marquez can be penalised for really, he wasn't impeding, and there isn't a rule against not trying. Vale should have dispatched him and moved on, and he simply couldn't.

There isn't but there should be. I can stomach such tactics when it's being done to favour the team, but not intervening in a fight that you're supposed to be completely independent from.

I also suspect that passing him would not have been the end of Rossi's problems. "moving on" would have proved difficult when Marquez pace suddenly improves dramatically.

Still, again, any sympathy i would have had for Vale is nullified by that crash. He's lucky not to have been black flagged.

I hope whenever Marquez is in a title fight from now on that everyone on the grid goes out of their way to **** him over, the guy's a piece of ****. He was doing it at Phillip Island too, backing Rossi up all race and then last couple of laps he's suddenly 1.5s per lap faster and wins the race. Rossi looked quicker than Lorenzo last time out too, Marquez cost Rossi like ten points there, and a tonne for the next race too. It's hard to see Rossi winning the championship now, even if he can get back to the position he needs Lorenzo has a rear gunner in Marquez. Absolute scumbags, can't believe Lorenzo would want to win a championship that way. Hopefully he crashes out of the next GP.

Well atleast the upside is that we know Rossis performances were strong and consistent throughout this season. Properly worthy of a title unlike the two Spaniards. Rossi said in the post-race interview, "It takes so long to understand/recognize evil". Seems he didn't know what young Marc was capable of until it was too late.
Rossi won this title whether it's official or not.

"This is the first time that black South Africans have had someone to relate to in this sport," Hamilton said. "I feel incredibly privileged to be at the front of that."

I really do despair of him making comments like this, so black people are unable to relate to white people are they?

I'd certainly welcome a return to Kyalami though, lovely race track.

Agreed on both fronts. If this is the first time, why wasn't he a role model when he won his first title as a more humble kid and still travelled with his Dad who had worked multiple jobs to get him there? Apparently being one of the richest sportsman in the world, and very much living the life of a multimillionaire is much more relatable.

More generally, anyone calling themselves a role model seems a little off anyway.
