He has these moments of madness at nearly every club he's been at, and usually in the 3rd season. Usually it's a symptom of his frustration at being found out or the continual realisation that he can never live up to truly great manager who can build success for longer. This time round though it seems there's nothing holding him back... which suggests he's on a kamakazee mission to get himself sacked for that payout.

He's just signed a new 5 year contract so will get a huge pay off. Assuming he's on 200k a week (as I doubt he'd allow the players to earn more than him) that 5 year contract is worth £52million and he's only a few weeks into it. He's not going to settle for a few million!

To put the shambles he's overseeing into perspective, Moyes took over (note took over so they weren't his players bar the one signing he made) a title winning team and had 17 points after 10 games. Jose has his own players and summer transfers to work with and he has 11.

I think Blackburn managed something similar in 95/96, but that was after Dalglish ran for the exit realising the money was running out and he wasn't up to the task (again) and threw a grenade to Ray Hartford.

Pretty sure Blackburn and Utd in 2014 have the worst records as clubs defending a title in living memory, both finishing 7th. So at least Mourinho may have a record to aim for this season...

Blackburn had 11 points after 10 games. Same as Jose!

Leeds had a shocker defending their title in 92/3. They had 14 points after 10 games.

To be fair to Blueman he is the one and only Chav who has had the balls to keep on posting whether they win, lose or draw.

London's Big Time Charlie who used to be the board's number one post starter has turned out to be a fairweather fan and a coward.

Good point, I forgot about Leeds.

Much like the rest of football did.

Wilkinson was still in charge the following season as well, wasn't he? So that gives Jose the mark to aim for to get that record he so obviously wants.

Has any side won the title then been relegated the following season. If o had to bet on a side it would be City, some time many many many decades ago.

They'd do well - before the money came along they'd only ever won two league titles. One of them was in 68 when we were busy conquering Europe, pretty sure they were reasonably good at the time so they wouldn't have been relegated back then, so that only leaves one left, not sure when that was.

Wait, just so happens, that upon checking, City might just be that side.

In the 30s apparently champions then relegated <laugh>

Just knew it, there could only be one club capable.

    Outstanding work by the Citizens.

Utd first English team to win the European Cup
Utd first English team to win the double double
Utd only English team to win the treble
Utd only English team to win three league titles in a row under the same manager
Utd only English team to win three league titles in a row on two separate occasions

City first (only?) English team to be relegated as champions

    Couldn't make it up

Yep. 1937, went on a 22 match unbeaten run and won the title. We got relegated.

A year later City made history with the worst title defence in English football history. United however were promoted from Division 2.

City won nothing for the next 31 years until 68. They would later go and beat this record by 3 years.

    We became England's biggest club.

I sometimes forget why City exist. Then something like this pops up and you remember. It's for our amusement.

I can see city running riot on you lot today, unless you bang feelmenarni up top and lump 60yrd balls into the box all game.

No one is touching city this year, not even the gooners they will have their annual meltdown and finish 4th

I imagine De Bruyne will be looking at Valencia on the team sheet and licking his eyebrows.
