That was a good run from Robertson. Meylers finish was pretty assured aswel Clearly moving in the right direction!!!! What do you reckon Mr Archer ????????
With the game being a top of the table clash I would have expected a higher attendance than 17423 (1444 away fans).
That was much, much better. Everybody looked a lot more energetic, the team moved forward with purpose and the fullbacks were a lot more adventurous. This was my point (which some of you alarmingly didn't seem to get); we're capable of dominating games like today yet we haven't been in previous weeks. Hard to believe there were so many people disagreeing with me, but now compare the performance (not the result) to Tuesday and look how much better it was. There also seems to be some promising partnerships forming; even though Dave and Elmo seem to have some communication problems, they're still improving. Robertson and Clucas seem to be working well and Chuba and Abel are enjoying playing together it seems. The two goals were well taken, Meyler has grabbed his opportunity and I'm happy for him. Abel is getting better and better; he wouldn't have had the confidence to turn and shoot like that last season. That's all I'm asking of my team, that they play to their strengths and fulfil their potential. If we'd performed like that today and only won 1-0 I'd still be happy. Not sure we'll beat Leicester, but it'll be a good meeting of two form teams and we shouldn't fear anybody at home. We especially shouldn't fear going to Milton Keynes next Saturday. Well done lads for improving and well done Brucey for getting the lads going.
Thought he was quite poor defensively early on. Wrong side a number of times. A lot of work to do yet on that side of his game, but a real threat going forward
It's almost like they've been working on it and it takes time for players to understand each other and trust each other isn't it? That's why some of us have been happy to get the results we have had whilst the players gel. Some of us don't think you can throw a group of layers together and they'll all perform to the best of their ability all the time and that you can't buy the title in this league. That's what you seem to have missed in all the responses to your demands. Management isn't as simple as some seem to think and that's why a lot of trust Bruce. He knows the players better than you or even us.
It's almost as though they've had a whole pre season (Jake, Mo and the new lads aside) and ten games to "gel". I never doubted that we wouldn't click, it was the amount of time it took to happen that was annoying for me. I don't (nor have I ever) claim(ed) to be a better manager than Steve Bruce, I'm not a football manager full stop. It doesn't mean I can't have an opinion on his decisions or his team.
I agree with most of this Sterling, however perhaps the most important partnership is the one that you failed to mention, and the one that has been the catalyst to our change in results and performances over the last couple of games, Livermore & Meyler. Long may that partnership continue.
Yeah can't believe I missed that one out. They look really positive working together. I wish Meyler would be a tad more consistent, but I can't fault his contribution these past two games and he always pops up with a goal when needed.
I don't know if people said he was useless, just that he wasn't creating enough. He certainly did better today though, maybe SB had a word.
