Good. Get it done. It's already suffered ignorant attacks on religion. Should have been closed the first time some muppet started smearing their drivel.
I don't understand why a footballer would need to publicly come out as opposed to their lifestyle itself making it apparent , or why their sexuality matters at all. People are what they are. It's a fair bet that there's a fair few gays posting on here, it doesn't make their football opinion any more or any less valid.
My worry about legalising gay footballers in the Premiership is if they lose control of themselves on the pitch and start performing fellatio rather than concentrating on the game. Impressionable supporters might copy them in the stands, as they did with David Beckham's mohican hairstyle, and I for one, do not want to be receiving oral pleasure from a random male fan whilst watching a game. I think they should be required to sign a contract where they agree not to do anything lewd on the pitch and for it to be written in the FA rulebook as a red card offence. ESSEX GULL
It also could present difficulties when playing Latin teams in Europe and opposing players greet the team with the continental kiss. The British gay player could consider this as flirtation and would have to be made aware of the differing meanings, as the last thing any football supporter wants to see is an irate homosexual remonstrating on the pitch, because he feels that they have been 'led on' by the likes of Sergio Ramos. Peter is indeed correct, this ridiculous thread should never have been permitted by Lambrini. The big question is, when will we see the first transgender player in the Premier League? ESSEX GULL
Obviously you don't mingle with unreconstructed homophobes. (There are a lot in football fandom, as there are everywhere)
It's a proven fact that ardent homophobes are, in fact, gay themselves and unable to accept their own sexuality so project their fear and insecurities on to others. The same as ardent anti-Nazis. ESSEX GULL
