Newcastle United considering move for international defender

Newcastle supporters are quite rightly basking in the glory of their 6-2 demolition of Norwich last Sunday, but the fact remains that they are still in the bottom-three.
One major reason for the Magpies’ failings has been their woeful defensive record, with 19 goals conceded in just nine Premier League games this season.
Steve McClaren needs someone he can trust at the back and Republic of Ireland international Richard Keogh fits the bill, with the pair having worked together at Derby.

    RICHARD KEOGH
An excellent organiser of those around him, the rugged centre-back missed just one league game last season under his former boss, helping the team to keep an impressive 16 clean sheets:

This form has continued into the current campaign, with the 29-year-old helping his side to keep five clean sheets in 12 Championship matches.
Moving to St. James’ Park would undoubtedly represent a step up in class for the Derby defender, but he proved in the Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 win over Germany recently that he can mix it with the best.
The £4m-rated centre-back was clearly on the Magpies’ radar back in the summer if reports in the Guardian are to be believed, so this transfer story definitely has legs.

I just can't see this or it would have happened in the summer.

Mike Williamson was fantastic in the Championship. Keogh is a clone. Not a chance.

Just **** off if you please. I have no time for jobbers of his ilk. Watching ROI against Poland recently ( Irish blood runs strong in my family) and the one glorious chance they had had to fall to the most wretched **** which happened to be this bastard.
