...can't say I've ever heard the above version....this is the one I recall - brilliant when it came out..
I prefer the version by The Wailers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fabulous_Wailers and Rockin' Robin Roberts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockin'_Robin_Roberts who gave up music to be a chemist in San Francisco in 1967 but was killed in a car crash a few months later.
Certainly released before the Kingsmen's version in '63 or '64 - a fact I hadn't realized. Ta for that.
Richard Berry wrote Louie Louie in 1955 and released his version of the song in 1957 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie
How are you managing to stay up so late Peter ? I have an excuse - I'm watching the Toronto Blue Jays (who've just tied it up 3-3 in the 8th inning of the 6th game against Kansas City (best of 7 series, KC leading 3-2 in games)). Rain stopped play (it's teaming down in Kansas), so I could be awake for quite a while myself ! I'll post this next track to see if it brings the Blue Jays an edge & helps 'em get to the World Series !!
