http://www.umaxit.com/index.php/articles/jose-fonte-southamptons-1-admirable-true-constant Had to post this eulogy about Jose as the writer says so much that we recognise as true....a major figure behind our success who has shown loyalty to the club.
If I were to get a name on the back of my Saints shirt, it would be Fonte. Lotta love for our Captain. Shame they spelt SKDs name wrong though.
Can't imagine life without Jose at the heart of our defense, would love to see him as Saints Manager one day, could he be more sucessful than that other Jose from Portugal?, he certainly won't be as annoying!...
Makes me think about buying a shirt with Fonte on. Haven't bought one since 2012! Fonte is crucial to us, great footballer, great captain, great bloke. Would love to see him stay on in a coaching role.
He is a great footballer for us. I take great pride in spotting how good he was even when he first joined us, but he's long since exceeded my expectations. As to football shirt buying, I haven't bought one since...
I have a pink bobble hat that I wear when it's cold.....and several scarves that I never wear. Unfair to single the image of me in a football shirt onto other fans' retinas.
This winter I'm going to lead the charge for bobble hats. Proper old fashioned, hand knitted ones. I found my mum's old red and white one last week and I'm going to wear it to games. Meh to those trendy tightly knitted, tight fitting beaney type hats; loose stitched bobbles for the win.
I chose the pink version because you can wear it anywhere....people scarcely note the Saints embroidered on the front. Sadly I couldn't wear red and white on non-match days.
Thought ... Hello, a thread about Jose from the leader of his fan club. Now there's a shock, but I shouldn't have doubted that Fran would evidence her usual drooling, and it's a good article. He is all this and more. I literally bumped into him once after a match. He was signing the cast on a young girls arm. He signed my grandson's shirt and the forehead of a young bloke who wanted his autograph but had nothing to sign. He seemed a very relaxed character and but for the fact that someone came and hauled him back into the stadium he seemed to be willing to talk to every member of the crowd. My son blamed Jose for causing confusion. While my grandson professes to support Liverpool (makes school easier) pictures of Saints players adorn his bedroom, and the signed shirt is still his pride and joy. Taking him to his first away game tomorrow just to add to the problem!
