The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket.

  3. There are more stars in space than there are grains of sand on every beach in the world.

For every human on Earth there are 1.6 million ants.

The total weight of all those ants, however, is about the same as all the humans.

Ten percent of all the photos ever taken were taken in the last 12 months.

A strawberry is NOT a berry.

    A banana IS a berry.

It’s Just Not Our Cup Of Coffee! London Cafe Ordered To Take Down ‘Offensive’ Sign
    F***offee on Bermondsey Street/Google
A coffee shop in South London has been ordered to remove its ‘offensive’ sign by the landlord.
F***offee in Bermondsey Street tweeted a picture of a letter sent by lawyers threatening to destroy the sign if they did not remove it.
Acting on behalf of the buildings owners, the legal letter said: “We are instructed that you have either erected or allowed your sub-tenant to erect an offensive sign on the exterior of the building…without the permission or authority of our client and this constitutes a trespass.
“If you or your sub-tenant do not immediately remove the sign above the property shop front ‘F***offee’, and make good any damage caused to the exterior of the building, our client will have no option but to remove the sign themselves or issue court proceedings seeking an injunction requiring you to remove the sign.”
F***offee posted the photograph alongside the caption: “No humour please, we’re British.”
The legal action comes following complaints from local residents.

I know... Imagine naming a city London. That's just downright offensive. Lon looks like loin. Don being a mafia boss... The cities name basically advertises itself as one big brothel. No wonder Abrahamobich purchased a London team.

I was being serious, this time.
It's hardly the most devastating piece of wit imaginable, and quite a lot of people are likely to be offended by it.
It's not clever, and there's just no need.

99% of all swearing I ever do is on this forum... This forum brings out the worst in me <laugh>. I'm not at all offended by swearing I just don't use it in "real life". (my wife is- she'll turn a show off if there's too much swearing in it).

If I saw a shop so named in the US I'd have a chuckle but probably wouldn't shop there assuming it's run by the lowest denominator. If I saw the shop in Britain I wouldn't make such an assumption... Swearing is just so much more engrained in British culture than it is in America. (movies aside... Very few people swear like they do on movies except maybe in Texas)

Honestly though I'm not for censoring shop names in either country. The name does give me a chuckle but the branding of it makes me not take it serious... I'd probably go to a star bucks or other local coffee place first. I'm not offended by the name but it does give the appearance the owners arnt entirely serious about their business. (may or may not be true).

There is a reason businesses with "cute" names rarely make it big... Its because whereas it may garner a chuckle or two it consciously or subconsciously makes potential customers go elsewhere thinking they are a 2 Bob operation.

Let market forces decide if the name stays or goes. It may offend some but they can vote with their wallet.

I'm not personally offended by swearing but I know that plenty of people are, and to me it's just common decency not to go out of your way to offend people unnecessarily.
I don't think the clientele are the issue here, more the fact that it's on public view to anyone in the street - including little old ladies and young kids whose parents are having a hard enough time bringing them up without every second word being a ****ing expletive.

I probably swear more on a daily basis than you say you do (mostly for comic effect), but I'm always aware of who is within earshot. It's just a sense of appropriateness.
If it was particularly clever or innovative then there could perhaps be some mitigation, but quite honestly the joke, as in the question "You ****offee? " is well used and a little tired by now.

I've actually never heard that... Didn't know it was suppose to be a twist on "for coffee". Thought they were just swearing to swear... <laugh>

I'm not really for shielding kids eyes from swearing, nudity, and sex... I mean I kinda do, but more out of respect for the Mrs. I'd rather the kids just be aware it's not appropriate for them to swear... The oldest kid is fully aware of swear words but knows not to use them... We did the birds and bees the very first time the subject came up. I'd rather he hear that from us rather than some other middle school child.

Swearing exists... Futile keeping it from kids... Old ladies who are offended need to not be... Or vote with their wallets and go elsewhere.

A swearword never hurt anyone and it shouldn't really offend anyone...using them too often might label you socially but that's for the user to worry about not the observer on my opinion.

Perhaps it a cultural difference between here and the States, or perhaps it's just me, but I think it's good manners not to offend people without due cause.
Or are manners a thing of the past as well?
